I wanted a hydration pack that had a front pocket for my cell phone. As it turns out, a vest is the best option I found. After doing a lot of online research, USWE was a highly recommended option. I decided to buy the Rush 8L to see how it would work for me. When I unpacked the vest, it was easy to see that it was feature rich. There are expandable pockets everywhere. Then, I put it on. For context, I'm 6'3" and 195 with a lean athletic build and a 44 inch chest. The size chart for USWE said it would work with chests up to 45". It does...kind of...until you fill put stuff in the vest. Unrelated to my size, my criticism of the vest is that it is clearly designed to be light weight but not necessarily to be durable. All of the materials are high quality, but I didn't have confidence that it would last a long time. It would be a far better running vest than a mountain biking vest, IMHO. I transferred all of my gear from the Camelbak pack I have been using to the Rush 8L. Everything fit nicely...except for the reason I bought the vest. My iPhone 15 Pro Max with a Quadlock case on it does fit, but it feels overly snug and, because of the curved front of the vest, it sits at an angle that puts a lot of pressure on the stretch material. It would have been nice if the front pocket intended for a cell phone was more reinforced. Next, I swapped out the water bladder for my Camelbak bladder to test how the back would feel with even more weight and bulk. Honestly, the vest carries the weight fine. But the pack did not feel comfortable. I was mentally trying to talk myself into liking it...until my wife said it just didn't look right. Without question, I would not have been able to put on another layer on top of my riding jersey. It was snug and it pulled from the sides. Bottom line is it is a quality vest built to be light and have a lot of expandable pockets. But, if you have a chest size that is close to the size limit listed by the manufacturer, be prepared to have it fit more snugly than desired and to be limited in your apparel/gear options. I ended up returning the Rush 8L in favor of the Osprey Escapist Velocity 6. The Osprey is heavier because it's made out of more durable material and has a couple of welcome mountain biking features. But it is far more accommodating to larger frame wearers. The manufacturer size chart shows up to 47", which seems completely feasible to me. The Osprey is far more comfortable and the fully kitted vest feels more natural to wear.
