Descendant Carbon Eagle DUB Crankset balances stiffness, weight, and enduro-ready strength

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I swapped out alloy cranks for the Descendant Carbon and instantly felt the stiffness boost. It’s confidence-inspiring on technical climbs and sends, and the DUB setup has stayed quiet through months of muddy rides. It’s light enough for long days, but burly enough to take hits—no flex, no drama."

Whether we're powering through chunky lines or sprinting toward the next descent, the Truvativ Descendant Carbon Eagle DUB Crankset brings the performance and durability we demand. Designed for aggressive trail and enduro riding, it sheds grams without sacrificing stiffness or strength—thanks to a carbon arm construction and DUB spindle interface that improves durability and compatibility across frame standards.

The direct-mount X-Sync 2 chainring offers smoother pedaling and better chain retention across rough terrain, while the Boost-specific spacing ensures an optimized chainline for modern trail bikes. And because it’s built to play nice with any Eagle drivetrain, upgrading is as simple as bolt-on, pedal hard, and rip.

Low key graphics and great performance

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

These replaced GX alloy cranks. The ride improvement was noticeable. If you want the great performance of a carbon crank without spending a ton this is the one. Graphics are low key in a good way, the cranks are very good looking. They deliver the stiffness to improve power transfer into the drivetrain, I agree with another reviewer that they have some damping qualities as well. If you are a smaller rider you might not notice the difference between alloy and carbon but for those on the larger side when you get out of saddle and crank the difference is obvious. I will buy these again for a hard tail build I am working on.

Durable, light enough, chatter dampening

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Carbon Descendant crank that's uber-stiff and really does help mute the chatter through your feet and keep them planted. I'm a 32" inseam on a large v3 Bronson and moving to 170mm has helped me spin a higher cadence while climbing. Already have the DUB system, so these with some crank boots was all I needed. Could not be more pleased with this crankset

Crazy stiff, well priced, looks awesome

Familiarity:

Very happy with this crankset. Upgraded from a GX aluminum crankset but didn't want to drop over $400 for a carbon crank. This isn't the lightest crankset, like the XX1 or XO1, but it's not that far off. Going from an aluminum GX crankset with GXP BB to this crankset with the new DUB BB, the weight savings was exactly 100g. (oh and I moved from 175mm to 170mm crank arms at the same time) This crankset looks fantastic, but aesthetics aside, the most noticeable thing for me what the stiffness. It's notably more stiff while pedaling and especially under hard efforts out of the saddle, like downhill sprints. It feels like all of my effort is translated into forward momentum with very little flex. I can't say if this is because of the carbon layup, or perhaps it's the DUB spindle, I don't know. My old GX cranks was a smaller diameter GXP BB version. The bearing pre-load that they put on these is also really great. Simple concept to dial in just the right amount of tension on the bearings for butter smooth operation with zero play. Do note that if you aren't already running a DUB bottom bracket, you will need to get one. They don't cost much and the BB weighed substantially less than my GXP BB. Also note that if you are using a threaded BSA style BB, you will need a different 12-tooth BB tool for the DUB bottom bracket. It's NOT the same tool as the GXP or shimano BB. If you are thinking about a new crankset, throw down. This thing rocks. Oh, and don't forget the crank boots for the ends.
