Epos High Grade ABUS Lock

EXPENSIVE CABLE THAT DOESN'T LOCK

Bought this expecting a quality Thule product (l-o-n-g time Thule brand customer). The cable and lock mechanism come from ABUS, NOT THULE. The marriage of the two manufacturers did not produce a lock that works. The lock mechanism takes a LOT of muscle flex, aka the bicept pic in the "manual", to install (NOT a slight shove into place like the video shows) from the under side. The locking mechanism can be seen to move from the top, but the pin shaft of the cable is not long enough to connect -- and yes the top plate is down all the way as the manual directs. No amount of pushing on the cable pin has accomplished a locking connection. Super disappointed that Thule doesn't think its own locks are secure enough to provide the lock cylinder. This hitch-mount bike rack has three other Thule cylinders (including one that can allow the entire hitch to be removed) and it would have been easy to include the lock cylinder on their own mechanism. We would have been money ahead to have just bought an ABUS cable and looped it around the bikes and rack. Still requires two separate keys.
