What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
“This pad delivers the best of both worlds: it’s light enough for backcountry trips but feels like a luxury car camping pad. The stretch fabric and 3D construction make it incredibly comfortable, even for side sleepers like me. And the TwinLock valve makes setup and takedown so easy!”
We bring the Therm-a-Rest NeoLoft Sleeping Pad along for backcountry treks that demand both comfort and packability. At just 30 ounces and with a packed size rivaling a 1L water bottle, the NeoLoft defies expectations by offering plush 4.6-inch thickness and a broad, taper-free surface for sprawling, side-sleeping, and nighttime tossing and turning.
Its ContourCore Matrix™ construction balances thermal efficiency and cushioning, with side rails to keep us comfortably cradled through the night. The stretch-knit fabric feels luxuriously soft and adapts to every movement, ensuring uninterrupted rest. With an R-value of 4.7, it delivers reliable insulation, while the durable, solution-dyed bottom fabric minimizes environmental impact.
The NeoLoft’s TwinLock™ Valve system pairs with an included pump sack for quick inflation and precise firmness control, and it deflates effortlessly when it’s time to pack up. Complete with a stuff sack and repair kit, this pad is our go-to for ultralight comfort on any adventure.

Comfortable but cold
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
It's definitely the most comfortable pad I've used, by far. But when sleeping in high 30's in Colorado it felt cold. My wife had the same issue. She usually sleeps cold and I usually sleep warm but both of us ended up adding a thick blanket on top of the pad to stop the cold coming through.

Sleep like at home
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Hands down the most comfortable sleeping pad I’ve had. My background is light weight/ultralight backpacking, but that comes at a sacrifice of quality sleep. I will compromise on other parts of my kit before I leave this pad at home. I cannot speak to its R value. We’ll find out if it can hack it during shoulder/winter conditions. For spring and summer, it’s a clear winner.

Just received it. Wish it was wider and I am not a big man. I tested it for leaks by pumping it up using the pump sack. Of course, that means a lot of huffing and puffing, but I tried something that this old man with sleep apnea travels with, a CPAP device. I used that to inflate the NEOLOFT pad via the pump sack. Worked well and saved my lungs a lot of work. And yes, I take a portable power supply with me to drive the CPAP device as my old, broken bones, won't let me mountaineer anymore.

LOVE this pad. Major comfort
LOVE this pad. Major comfort upgrade from my old XLite. Was happy to find that a pump sack was included, makes for a quick setup at camp. Will be buying a second one for my gf.

I’ve used plenty of sleeping
I’ve used plenty of sleeping pads over the years, but the NeoLoft™ Sleeping Pad stands out as the most comfortable by far. From the first night, I could tell the difference—excellent support, perfect thickness, and just the right amount of firmness to keep me well-rested after long days outdoors. What really sets it apart is how insanely comfortable it is compared to other mats I’ve used. It provides great insulation, keeping me warm on cooler nights, yet it remains breathable enough for summer camping. The durability is top-notch, and it packs down small without compromising comfort. Whether you’re backpacking, car camping, or just need a reliable sleeping pad for outdoor adventures, the NeoLoft™ is a game-changer. Highly recommend it to anyone who values a good night’s sleep under the stars!
