Offtrail Hike Gore-Tex Shoe delivers rugged waterproof performance for demanding trails

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I’ve put the Offtrail Hike GORE-TEX through its paces on wet alpine approaches and rocky scrambles. It holds up beautifully—super sturdy, fully waterproof, and the lacing locks your foot in place. The outsole traction is especially solid on steep, loose terrain."

When the weather is unpredictable and the trail gets rough, we rely on The North Face Offtrail Hike GORE-TEX Shoe to keep every step protected and secure. This technical hiking shoe is built to handle demanding terrain with a PFAS-free GORE-TEX® waterproof membrane that blocks out moisture without overheating your feet.

Reinforced with a Cordura® overlasted forefoot and ballistic-rubber toe cap, it shrugs off scrapes, bumps, and abrasion on rocky approaches. The padded collar and heel cup combine with an adjustable ghillie lacing system to create a locked-in feel that stays comfortable all day. And when the route turns steep and slick, the SURFACE CTRL™ rubber outsole—with 5mm lugs and wraparound heel and forefoot rubber—bites in for confident traction. From multi-day treks to spontaneous backcountry missions, these shoes are ready for it all.

Weird fit

Really awkward and rigid toe box, would return them if I hadn't worn them out already, big toe is hitting the end of the shoe even though I went up a full size from by actual shoe size

Much stiffer than previous Offtrail shoes, bad heel slip.

I wanted to love this shoe, like I love the previous less-bulky Offtrail TR... those fit me like a glove, no heel slip, wide stable base, nice rocker action. These "winterized" versions of the Offtrail give me lots of heel slip, i guess because they are a much stiffer, less flexible shoe. The sole is very rigid and pretty hard, they feel clunky and heavy overall.
