What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"If you're building up a dream bike or chasing grams on race day, the XG-1299 is a no-brainer. It's impressively light, shifts smoother than anything else in the Eagle lineup, and the Ti Nitride finish adds just the right amount of flash and function."
The SRAM XG-1299 XX1 Eagle 12-Speed Cassette is engineered for riders who demand the best from their drivetrain. Built for Eagle setups and compatible exclusively with XD drivers, this high-end cassette features a 500–520% gear range that excels on both brutal climbs and fast-flowing descents.
CNC-machined from a single block of hardened steel, the X-Dome construction delivers SRAM’s best strength-to-weight ratio and exceptional durability. A Ti Nitride finish not only looks sharp but also sheds mud and keeps shifts clean and quiet in all conditions. Whether you're chasing podiums or just love top-tier performance, this cassette is the gold standard.

A worthy upgrade
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I had installed the XX1 cassette previously on my 2021 bike (road/gravel) and was very pleased with it. I went ahead and installed another XX1 cassette on my 2023 road bike. A significant reduction in total cassette weight. Combined with the XX1 chain on both bikes, the shifting with a conventional SRAM derailleur set-up is smooth and without issues. I can recommend the XX1 Cassette without any reservations.

Huge improvement
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I have noticed a significant difference on the extreme uphills with the extra 2 teeth compared to a 10-50t cog. The gold color looks awesome and I am enjoying the full new SRAM drivetrain as compared to the cheaper NX I had on my bike from the factory.

I bought this cassette and it was defective. The threads were bent so when I attempted to install the cassette it was crooked. Boxed everything up and sent back to Backcountry.

52T, 52 Weeks?
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
As of this review, the new SRAM 52T is still fairly new and making it's way out to the masses. I recently upgraded to the AXS drivetrain and felt that it would be appropriate to bring on the new 52T cassette. I purchased it from my LBS on 8/12/2020 and was STOKED because I had some big climbs (3-4k) on the schedule for August into September. As expected, everything was flawless and worked with precision and the crispness you'd expect. 9/18/2020 - I was doing routine maintenance on the bike and while lubing the chain, I noticed one of the Tooth on the 52t cog was chipped. No more than 40 hours on the cassette, I was in complete shock. I like to think that I ride "hard" but it's a brand new cassette. I've got a warranty submission via LBS, I trust that SRAM will take care of me. I'll keep you guy posted.
