great socks and worth the extra $

wear ankle length socks daily for work for 8 years. this is the third generation of ankle length work socks-started off with a multi pack from backcountry (dont remember brand) and they lasted 5 years but not a lot of cushion, then got some dang tough, more cushion and very durable. got some smartwools last year and really like the cushion, durability (wear a couple of times before they need to be washed) and the heat regulation in hot and cold weather is excellent. sticking with the smartwools

Hiking or running comfort.
Great for hiking and I used them in a marathon as they are comfy and wick away moisture.
