HG CS-M8000 Cassette brings smooth shifting and wide-range gearing to 11-speed drivetrains

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I swapped this cassette onto my gravel setup for more climbing range, and it’s been rock solid. Shifting is crisp even under load, and I love the versatility of the 11-40T option. It's light where it counts but durable enough to take a beating. After a few hundred miles, it still runs smooth and quiet."

Whether we're grinding up a long gravel climb or bombing technical singletrack, the Shimano HG CS-M8000 Cassette delivers the precise gear we need, right when we need it. Built to balance performance and longevity, this cassette is a dependable upgrade or replacement for any Shimano or SRAM 11-speed drivetrain.

With Rhythm Step gear progression that eliminates big jumps between cogs, it helps us maintain cadence through changing terrain. A smart mix of lightweight aluminum and durable steel cogs keeps things light without compromising strength, and wide-range options like 11–40T, 11–42T, and 11–46T give us the gearing we need to spin up steep grades or hammer flats without a second thought.

It's a cassette!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

It's awesome because the 42t ring is matte black, which means you know it means business when it comes climbing, right! Same as the other one I have. On a different set of wheels. It works the same which is more a function of the rear mech than anything else. Horray!

Swaped from a 11-34t to a 11-40t

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this to gain some climbing gears for my GRX gravel drive train. Reliable shifting into the 40th with running the original GRX 810 derailuer. Just had to make a B-scew adjustment. So far no need for a goat link derailuer hanger extension.

Working great so far for my Frankenbike!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Decided to convert an old Orbea Onix from a 2x to a 1x drivetrain. I was originally looking for a SRAM 11-42 but with the bike part shortage that was a no go and also didn't like how the anodized coating would eventually look after use. So I opted for this cassette and I don't have any complaints so far. Looks great and works great with my Rival 1 derailleur. Very clean shifts and overall very quiet. Love the range and combined with a 42t chainring in the front I haven't lost any performance switching from 2x to 1x. IMO it's definitely worth the investment.

can't go wrong with M-8000

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I use this cassette on my gravel bike with a 36t front chainring. Climbing is a breeze. Still going strong after 500 miles.
