KRYT3 Saddle

Selle SMP designs saddles for various cycling disciplines and with its Men's KRYT3 Saddle, it might just be the first saddle we've come across that's built for criteriums. We're quite certain that’s not the only arena it will excel in and we're kind of surprised it doesn't come with some sort of protective anti-abrasion material on the sides to withstand the inevitable crash, but nevertheless, it's designed with a shape that supports quick adjustments to speed and handling that’s needed on a tight, closed course. This saddle gets its signature shaping and standard elastomer foam padding keeping you comfortable way past the 1-hour plus a lap timing of your typical crit.

The KRYT3 is indeed all SMP with its signature pressure relieving center channel and iconic dropped nose. This shaping relieves pressure on soft tissue and places it on the sit bones which, as it turns out, are way better at supporting our body weight while seated. SMP shapes the carbon reinforced nylon shell to work best for a cyclist with pant size ranging between 30 and 35-inches for maximum comfort. The black version features a soft leather cover while the color versions use a durable microfiber. Stainless steel rails resist corrosion and boost durability so the saddle stays with you for years to come.

Selle SMP Kryt 3

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Saddle reviews are only somewhat useful. They are highly personal choices. Someone could love a saddle that the next person absolutely hates. I found a saddle that I love. It's the Selle Italia Boost or non Boost SLR superflow. The most comfortable saddle I have ever used over the last 30 or 40 years of cycling. However, I guess I am too heavy for them because I broke 2. I'm 6'2" and weigh 205lbs. I like narrow saddles. Wider ones interfere with the backs of my legs when pedaling. So I had the S3 or narrow version of the superflow. It was 132 mm wide I think. This saddle is in that neighborhood I think its 131mm. I've ridden probably 10,000 miles on an SMP Glider saddle and it was a great and highly durable saddle. Its the plastic shell that cracked on me. The SMP saddles have a more robust nylon shell. The only thing that I dont like as much with the Kryt is the nose of the saddle is on the wide side. But its not too bad. I think its intentional to give you something to grip during a criterium race....to help in handling. The saddle width is perfect for me. The amount of padding is perfect, not too much and not too little (like the composit which has just the leather cover). I would also try the stratus from SMP. The quality is top notch though. I think it will last like my Glider. I've put 5 or 600 miles on it. Just got back from a 60 mile ride with 6,000 ft of vertical and it was very good. No hot spots, no blisters.
