Rush TRK GTX Boot delivers backpacking-grade support with lightweight agility

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I use the Rush TRK GTX when I need a burly boot that won’t slow me down. It’s supportive enough for multi-day backpacking trips but still feels light and agile on fast-moving day hikes. The PRESA outsole grips on everything, and the ankle collar is one of the most comfortable I’ve worn—no break-in needed."

From rugged mountain treks to long-haul missions with a pack, the Scarpa Rush TRK GTX Boot delivers the confidence, protection, and agility we rely on. By blending the structure of a backpacking boot with the dynamic feel of a trail hiker, it gives us the best of both worlds—ideal for tackling technical terrain without feeling overbuilt.

The 1.8mm suede leather upper with GORE-TEX® ePE lining offers waterproof, breathable protection with PFAS-compliant materials, while the 3D Auto-Fit Ankle Collar enhances comfort with stretch fabric and molded foam. Underfoot, Scarpa’s PRESA® TRK-01 outsole grips variable terrain, and the Dynamic Stabilizer Torsion (DST) frame delivers rearfoot control and torsional support so we can move with precision and stability, no matter what’s underfoot.

Very impressed. I live in them.

Pros: wider than usual for Scarpa, super durable, light, great protection, water resistance. Cons: upper and cuff a little stiff and uncomfortable initially but broke in well, sole seems to be wearing quickly (but I have been in lots of rock). I usually wear either Scarpa Fuego boots or trailer runners, but wanted something in between for trails and general banging around. I've shied away from suede and synthetic in the past, but have been impressed with the durability of these boots. I've beaten these up probably more than they were designed for, but so far no significant damage. They are very supportive for the weight, especially torsionally. The cuff could use a little more padding-they felt a little stiff and kind of hard against my ankle bones at first, but after initial break-in it's been great. The toe rand is superb; it protects very well and wraps all the way on top of the toes, so it has avoided the premature delamination that plagued so many other boots that seem to add a rand for cosmetic reasons. The soles grip very well, but I think the lures could be deeper, mostly to add longevity. I see the sole wearing out well before the upper. That's better than the other way around, but I'd like to see a harder wearing tread on these. The waterproofing has been great. I would buy these again, and would like to see a full height model as well.
