Why We Like The Scarpa Crux Shoe
When we need to tiptoe through some dodgy terrain to reach our climbing grounds, we're slipping into the Scarpa Crux approach shoe. The Crux features grippy Vibram outsoles, a full-coverage toe rand, and climbing laces to help us scramble over technical features, catch a toe hold, and ascend toward the crag. We like this best seller for off trail hikes, rock scrambles, and difficult approaches that call for extra grip, protection, and climbing features.

Love these shoes
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- 12 (46 EU)
This is my second pair of these in a row--the first pair has been so well-loved that they're looking pretty thrashed. I should confess that I don't wear these for much hiking or scrambling toward climbs--they're daily wear; lots of light projects at my house and for clients ranging from framing to drywall to plumbing, wiring, and roofing. And these shoes are great for that--good traction durability, and good for long days on my feet. Only complaint is that the laces seem to die fairly quickly, and the soles slightly separate from the toes of the shoes if, like me, your days involve lots of crouching, kneeling, and crawling. In my case the separation only went so far and seems to have stopped, so the soles aren't on their way off.
