The Perfect Vest

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
medium

Really just the perfect trail running vest. It's light, breahable, the fit is perfect, the pockets are easy and safe. I'll buy an Adv Skin for long unsupported effects but this is my daily driver for anything over an hour.

Nice and breathable

I ordered this and the ADV SKIN 12 (2025) as I couldn't figure out which would be the best for me. I am 6ft tall 225lbs with about 45in at the thickest part of my chest and not because I'm muscular. While both vests did fit quite well the difference makers for me were: - This was much more breathable. The back of the ADV has a couple mesh panels to create separation but the solid backpack part allows for less airflow. I just wore the two around my house and did normal stuff and a bit of jogging to see how it fit/rested on me. Both fit really well, a bit different but well. - Either way though both trap heat. This one definitely less in the back due to all the mesh. Both have slightly padded fronts but the material on the ADV SKIN 12 is different. While both are stretchy this was more stretchy and there was less fabric on the front of this and is more sheer so perhaps more breathable. - The center hole in this made it so I could stuff or grab things out, the side zipper on the ADV made me wonder if I could and it wasn't really doable. - The bottom kangaroo pouch opening on the ADV is much larger. If you want to try and put say a standard cycling bottle in there, the hole would accommodate that but not on this one which is more like a 3in opening at best with the vest off. That being said I had a real tough time accessing the kangaroo pouch on the ADV 12 compared to the Sense Pro 6 although there is much less space in the Sense Pro 6. - A real big surprise is if you take the water bottles out of both the Sense Pro 6 had more space/could fit more things. The front holes are larger and somehow deeper which even the the ADV 12 is larger I just couldn't put as much stuff. Once again going to the example of a standard 20oz cycling bottle that will absolutely fit in the front pockets of the Sense but the pockets aren't as deep somehow on the ADV 12. - This one guys youtube which was the only decent review/overview of this vest I could find showed how well this does not retain water. He had a medium which he weighed at 160g or so and after dunking it in water then slightly squeezing it, it held 260g of water. As someone who sweats a lot I'm hoping this works out well for me that it doesn't feel like a big wet bag on me. - I am not sure how useful the back kangaroo pocket will be for me. This is really just so I can go on long outings and have something comfortable to keep me hydrated. I really wanted a waistpack that would hold a standard 20oz cycling water bottle but just couldn't find one as even manufacturers like Camelback that make some versions of it, only the bottle that came with it really fit or it was aligned to go up your spine and that was a bit awkward. Despite being big and not in great shape both vests do a good job of not making you look like you are expanding dough trying to escape the vest even if you pull it super tight. Some running belts I tried just really accentuate a bit of gut and felt a bit embarrassing. Both also were good and moving with you. The cord on the front is elastic so if you take big deep breaths it stays comfortably snug and moves with you. Lots of people have said this but they didn't explain in too much detail what is and isn't somewhat elastic. Both vests stretch, both's front cable cords are quite stretchable. I would say like many others I do wonder how a size down might have fit. I am really in the XL range and can if I want to close this up really tight, but I don't think that's wearing it correctly. But wearing it at what kinda looks like the photos and video the enclosure cord is a bit long even when latched on the opposing side. I also found this vest easier to take off than the ADV. Not sure why because both fit and feel really similar. This may sound like I really disliked the ADV 12 and I didn't. I was worried I would want to keep both and to some degree I do, but I really don't need two vests and the storage on the ADV 12 seemed like a good thing it just work out for what I needed for summer running.

Excellent

Having never owned a hydration vest I didn't really know what to expect. The Salomon - Sense Pro 6 surpassed my expectations although wearing one took a bit of getting use to! Very light and breathable, excellent fit and water bottles stayed totally stable in vest. Easily enough capacity for everything I need on a long run. Expensive but worth the money, would highly recommend

Loving my Solomon vest!

I've worn a couple other brands of vests over the last few years and decided to give Salomon a shot. The things that stand out above the rest are the quality of construction (padded liner, stitching, design features) and fit. I chose this particular vest for the 3rd bottle sleeve in the back, as well as the overall smaller size. While I love those features as I had hoped, there are little things that really make this vest amazing, such as the internal padding, the smaller volume of the top back pouch, the small rubber tabs on the soft flask clasps, the direction of the lower front pockets for easy access, and the overall fit.

Great for running long distance

The vest is very light and hugs very tightly to your body. It runs somewhat true to size to your normal shirt sizes.

My emotional support vest

I have no complaints for this vest. I am a small woman. 4'11" and 108lbs and I got an XS and it fits like a dream. The pockets are incredible. I don't chafe or rub in this even when wearing only a sports bra.

Fit is great

Love the fit and the smaller back coverage...not as hot. As always, love all the front compartments.

Bouncy

The sizing is fine but the bottles bounce a lot more than with my other Salomon vests - not sure why that is but really noticeable difference sadly

Solid, but could be better

Great fit as is to be expected. Lower back mesh pocket is great for an extra bottle and easy to access on the move. The two zipper pockets are great. The front pockets are a little difficult to access but work ok. My biggest gripe is no used gel pocket. You either need to bring a zip lock bag or just get gel remnants in the vest pockets. It’s such a simple add, I don’t know why it’s left off.

Light but fragile

The reason I love this pack is the big mesh pocket on the lower back. Makes it very breathable but can also hold gear. Only issue is that the mesh has torn slightly along the edges where it’s down to the vest. This has happened twice now. I wish the build quality was more durable especially for the very premium price you are paying.
