Mountain Flex Insulated Jacket blends breathable warmth with stretch for alpine missions

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I wore the Mountain Flex Jacket on a frosty pre-dawn ridge scramble and was seriously impressed by how well it managed heat and moisture. The synthetic insulation kept me warm during rest breaks, but the breathable stretch liner and ClimateSync venting kept things dry on the move. It’s that rare midlayer you can leave on all day."

For high-output winter pursuits, we need a layer that works as hard as we do—and the Mountain Flex Insulated Hooded Jacket delivers on every front. Built for dynamic movement in cold temps, it features lightweight synthetic PrimaLoft insulation wrapped in a weather-resistant ripstop shell that keeps out light precipitation and wind. Inside, a breathable stretch-knit liner and Salomon’s venting technology manage sweat and heat as intensity climbs, letting us stay comfortable whether we’re grinding uphill or dropping into frosty descents. The athletic yet regular fit layers easily under a shell or stands alone for fast-paced missions.

Great addition to my kit.

I am 5'11" tall and weigh 150 lbs. This jacket is a slim fit. I followed the sizing chart and got a medium. I can layer a light mid-layer under the jacket but not a heavy fleece. The zipper front covers the chin nicely. There are two cinch cords to draw in the waist. I have used Patagonia and Arcterix equivalents and I like this coat better. Should not pill and there are no stretch fleece panels. While those are good vents, they are not windproof. Hope this helps.

Maybe the best jacket Salomon has ever made.

I've had this jacket for a little over a month and have taken it into the back country and on several cross-county trips. It doesn't look out of place in an airport or a nice restaurant, but has the technical ability of the best outdoor gear I've ever used. One thing that Solomon jackets sometimes suffer on, is the zippers. It's not that they're bad it's just that they're not as good as some other manufacturers, and are sometimes a bear to get started zipping. Not on this jacket it is as smooth as butter. I love the lightness and flexibility of the jacket. I'm usually a down puffy guy, but the comfort of this jacket and the way it breathes means that it will be my primary layering jacket this winter season on the resort and in the backcountry. My only wish is that I had two of these jackets because I know I'm going to use this one until it is completely beat. It's the first jacket I grab and has been my daily driver since I got it. The brown/tan color is awesome and I've had several comments about it being a cool looking jacket which is a bonus.
