Why We Like The Salomon Genesis Shoe
If we are looking for skinny alpine trails, sketchy rock scrambles, and breathtaking views, the Salomon Genesis Shoe will help take us there. Featuring a lightweight, breathable, but incredibly durable Matryx synthetic upper, the Genesis can withstand abuse from rocky trails and scree scrambles. The Genesis features Salomon's Active Chassis for versatile support paired with an Energy Foam midsole for the cushion to give us an optimal balance between comfort and performance. For a reliable grip, the Contragrip rubber outsole deploys 4mm lugs in a chevron shape for a stable center, while the 5mm shoulder lugs ensure traction in all scenarios.

Here's what customers have to say
The trail running shoe is generally well-received, with praise for its comfortable fit, excellent grip and traction, and responsive cushioning that provides a smooth and enjoyable ride. The shoe is described as lightweight, breathable, and stable on technical trails, performing well in various conditions. However, some users found the toe box too narrow, and a few experienced durability issues with the midsole foam after higher mileage. Overall, the shoe seems to be a versatile and capable option that many customers are satisfied with.

Best value mountain ultra shoe
When it comes to mountain ultras, I don't think there's a better value. Great upper, good fit, and plenty of grip. No issues whatsoever and holding up well after 300+ miles so far.

Great Option for arch support
I usually go for the classic XA PRO 3D, but this gave me enough support to get me thru short runs and everyday use.

Best yet! Fit, comfort, materials are spot on.
Goldieocks of shoes. Fit, comfort, materials are spot on. Ample toe box, but not too big. Mid-sextion and heelcup wrap comfortably. Midsole, tongue and collar cushion are soft, but not too plush. Materials seem to be tough, like they will last the long run. I've been trail running for 40+ years. Once in a while a shoe comes along that suits my needs; this is one of them. I use these for trail runs, and road runs; long, short and intervals.

Overall Shoe Performance
Have owned many Salomon Supercross shoes, loved’em. First pair of Genesis, bought in April worn them around 10 times, super impressed with performance and fit. Having said that sole is coming unglued from shoe, have had to reattached a couple of times, other than that excellent.

My go-to trail runner.
Love the Genesis! The soft heel counter is great for people with Haglunds deformity. Great support, excellent traction, and love the Matrix uppers.

From shoe box to ultra
I bought the Salomon Genesis hoping, based on the description that, these trail shoes could be an every day and condition shoe. Definitely not disappointed! These shoes just flat out perform. Plenty of room in the toe box, amazing grip on muddy surfaces and lots of cushion over sharp objects and tree roots. The Salomon quick lace system performs well no matter what the conditions and the upper of this shoe is very breathable and lite and at the same time, provides great fit and control even on very steep traverses across hill sides. I would definitely recommend this shoe. If you want some waterproofness, pick the gortex version.

Nice mix of stability and cushion, short treadle
Really like these. They have just enough cushion but still feel responsive. Speed laces are great. My only complaint is the treads on outside rear heels wore out after 150 miles. I'm a heel striker.

Fit
Runs small, I had to return my normal size and buy one size larger. Tight in the toe box. Do not fit as well as my Speedcrosses.
