The active chassis maintains mobility and agility when we're hiking fast while also adding lateral support for the tougher trails that test our feet and ankles. This shoe is built for comfort on long-distance hikes and features GORE-TEX waterproofing for soggy conditions and deep, 5mm lugs to tackle mixed terrain.

The hiking shoes are generally well-received by customers. Many reviewers praise the shoes for their excellent comfort, support, and durability. They are described as incredibly comfortable, with a cushioned and supportive feel that is great for long days on your feet. The shoes are also noted for their waterproof construction, though a few reviewers had issues with the shoes leaking in wet conditions. The shoes are reported to be true to size for most customers, though a few mentioned needing to size up or down. Some reviewers with narrow feet found the shoes to be a bit too narrow, while others with wider feet appreciated the generous toe box. The shoes are also praised for their excellent traction and grip on various terrains. Comfortable but chunky

I've been trying to find a replacement for the discontinued Outbound Prism GTX. I liked the comfort of these; they feel very plush. My issue was that the midsole feels huge, especially at the rear of the shoe. If you don't mind that these are good shoes; it just wasn't for me as they felt enormous with all the extra midsole protruding from the back.

Leak like a sieve

Shoes might be comfortable but they have zero waterproof. I walk less than a minute in dewy grass and my socks are getting wet. Walk for 30 minutes and my socks are soaked. I've been a loyal North Face customer for years, but decided to try the Salomon for a change. First time, last time for that. I did some recent research and find the lack of waterproof in their GoreTex shoes seems to be common place. I would definitely NOT recommend these to anybody unless you going nowhere near wet conditions.

Achiles helper

I heard of Salomon shoes in the internet, people positively referring to the brand as a good choice for the Camino de Santiago. As I intend to do the Camino, decided to give the shoes a try and they really helped me so far, as I have an Achilles problem on my left foot, and the Salomon Elixir is working really fine to easy that inconvenience with my feet.

Wide and tight

I would not buy again. These shoes are wide in weird places and the laces hurt your feet. These shoes just don't work for me. Love other products but they missed the mark on these.

Super comfy!

Love the fit and comfort of this shoe. I don’t hike much but I have 2 Aussies that I walk 5-6 days a week, 3 miles per dog(they don’t walk well together🙄) I’ve been suffering from plantar fasciitis lately and these shoes have helped significantly! I did add an after market insole as the stock one was super thin with no structure. I only did that for extra help with the foot pain. Otherwise they were great right out of the box. Highly recommend! I’m sure they would hold up well on trails, great construction like other hiking shoes from Salomon.

Good cushion

They are a little more stiff than the elixir I have but that’s just the gore-Tex.can not wear them when it’s too hot but they keep my feet dry.

ExcellentGore Tex

I’ve been wearing these on an overseas trip for over a month now. Brutal weather, freezing, snow, slush, rain. Didn’t even feel any of it with these shoes on. They’re like wearing a tank!!

Rocky Mountains Ready

Finally had a chance to hike in my recently purchased Elixirs and am very pleased. Very good fit, supportive and comfortable. The real test will be later this summer when hiking in Rocky Mountains but as usual, very pleased with my new Salomons!!

All the qualities that you need

The Salomon Elixir with Gore Tex feel great from the time you put them on. The more I wear them the better they feel. These are a great every day shoe. The real white leather on the rear of the shoe really class them up. These are a great solid shoe that can serve you well walking, hiking or even work.
