Here's what customers have to say

The boots are widely praised for their exceptional quality, craftsmanship, and durability. Reviewers consistently describe them as incredibly comfortable and durable, with a classic, timeless style that can be dressed up or down. Many note the boots take time to break in but then mold perfectly to the wearer's feet. While some had issues with quality or sizing, the majority are extremely satisfied and consider the boots an excellent long-term investment.

They fit like a glove and the leather ages well.

I have been wearing these for months now and they fit like a glove, should have got size 13, but these are stretching out and looking even better with time. One thing I wish i did from the start was get a 13 D though. That’s not the boots fault at all, it’s my own fault. Love love love the toe cap offering rugged protection and also a somewhat tactical yet defined look. Love my iron rangers overall

Solid boot.

Was curious about the muleskinners. Got em, love the look. Could probably size 1/2 down for summer wear with thin socks. The nickel plated hardware is subpar and often have to replace from a cobbler with higher quality eyelets, but for now they work.

Great boot, but with some flaws

I bought the Iron Ranger after several tries to nail the right size. They run a bit big, for me. The boot is amazing in so many ways. My only complaint is that the rivets used for the open laced portion of the boot (upper three) cut into the leather of the tongue pretty badly. I have only worn them about a dozen times, so I can’t imagine what they will look a year from now.

Great quality, just be careful with sizing.

The quality is great as expected from RedWings, the sizing is a bit tricky though. I'm a 9 US in Adidas, Nike, Lacoste, and Under Armour. I have wide feet so if I get wide feet size I can usually go for 8.5 US. With these I went for wide feet sizing and I doubt if I should downsize 0.5 or 1 full size. I went with 8 US wide. The fit a bit large and long, but its manageable with thick socks. Next time I'm around a Redwings store I would try the 7.5 US. In any case, these feel good quality and look great.

A great boot!

I’ve been wearing for a couple of months, break-in was fairly easy for a real leather boot! Have had many compliments on them.

I love them more every day

Although they make a women’s Iron Ranger, I bought the men’s because they are better quality (thicker leather and leather lining). P.S. Women want good stuff, too. 😉 I’m in love with these things. Thankfully, I learned online not to use mink oil, or the Amber will darken. Instead, I use Bick 4, which preserves the color. I added an insole because the interior comes very basic, but in terms of leather and construction, these are remarkable. Every day they fit better, and I get complements on them every time I wear them out. I’m going to make my husband go try some on because I’ve seen him buy leather boots for years that pale in comparison to these. So, the hype was real for me. I wonder if some of the people commenting about quality got fakes online somewhere? I can see know why people are obsessed with the 8111s. I travel a lot with work, as I am a publisher. I’m in and out of airports, cabs, on the streets of NYC, conventions, etc. I can’t wear these with my women’s office clothes, but gosh, they make great travel companions. If I get a moment to wear jeans, I am in these boots. Thankfully, they are narrow enough not to look like clunky man shoes on my feet. I really want the Clara now, as it could be dressed up a bit more. Going to search the internet to see if there are ever coupons…

5 years later

I bought my Rough & Tough IR's almost 5 years ago and while I dont wear them often they have only aged like a fine wine. If I don't wear them for a while they become narrow and tight but give them some heat or mink oil and they loosen back up and once they get hot from body heat they loosen back like my childhood baseball glove. Love RedWing and I will absolutely be a customer for life. Yes this is a real review lol

10 years 1 resole and almost daily wear.

I bought my Iron Ranger boots 10 years ago as a getting-out-of-the-Navy present to myself. What could be more American than that! LOL. I have had them resoled at a local cobbler that has sadly since closed. Other than that, they have outlasted 2 pairs of laces, walked through 4 countries, and taken beatings in harsh New England winters. These are great boots— crazy comfy once broken in. I just wish they had the Vibram outsole on them.

Great boots, but one of the tongues is too thin

One of the tongues is so thin it is being literally chewed by laces and white Red Wing got unstitched and fell off within a week

Poor quality

Redwing a s a complete 💯 joke! I can't believe the poor quality for the price I've paid for the blacksmith boot. The rite boot is all loose pocket leather and the left boot is perfect with no problem. Who ever is selecting the leather should not even have a job cutting leather or punching a time clock because Red Wing does not care about quality at all just getting money from customers that are getting ripped off.
