Why We Like The Platypus QuickDraw Microfilter System
Quick and tiny, the Platypus QuickDraw Microfilter System is our go-to for self-supported ultraruns and ultralight backpacking missions. This compact system rolls up to fit in a hip belt pocket and quickly unfurls when we come upon a water source. The reservoir's wide mouth lets water pour in to fill in seconds, and once the filter is threaded onto the reservoir, we can sip straight from the clean side or squeeze the filtered water directly into our bottle.

recived DOA/Cascade support is terrible
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
first use I noticed that the supplied bag labelled 'dirty' has a small hole near the spout. Cascade Designs support is HORRIBLE. Still going through returns after almost 3 weeks. Lets face it, this company is a 3rd party drop shipper at this point after buying the IP of successful brands (and failing to keep up the original company's standards). There are other options, I'd recommend going with a different company than Cascade Designs/platypus

Switched to this filter from
Switched to this filter from an MSR gravity filter that I loved but needed something for solo backpacking. The QuickDraw is amazing! The caps that screw directly into your water bottle are so convenient and the squeeze bag seems durable. I especially love the little grab loop on the squeeze bag, it makes it so easy to fill up. The only thing I'd want different is a carry pouch to hold all the items in one place but I found a mesh bag that worked for that. 10/10 recommend

Great Upgrade From Sawyer
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've used Sawyer water filters forever, but they get gunked up faster than a nose with covid. This filter seems to be holding out better, the stream/flow is much faster, and it's overall simpler. I've been really enjoying it. Also, I filtered out of a stream that looked like chocolate milk with no problem. It sure didn't taste like chocolate milk, but I didn't get sick and the water looked fine after the filter. Just don't forget to backwash!

Beware the exploding water bag
The filter works well but the dirty water bag exploded.

No reason to not filter your water!
- Familiarity:

The Platypus QuickDraw Microfilter System is a must when going into the backcountry. One of the standout features of this system is its impressive flow rate. I was able to fill up mine and my partners soft flasks in no time using the filter. It also helped having a large bladder bag so I was able to fill multiple flasks per bladder. I was also a fan of how small the bag and filter packed down into. This made it super easy to throw in my vest on those longer adventures. The only downside of the bag I had was sometimes filling up the bladder was a little difficult since it didn't have much structure to open it up. With that said, the QuickDraw filter itself is able to attach directly to your standard water bottle top so you don't need the bladder bag if you don't want to carry it.

Filter works well. The filter does not attach to smart water bottles as indicated. I’m struggling to find any bottles it connects to. I assume it must be US size bottles?? Disappointing.

Issues with dirty water bag/filter connector
I think the filter worked great. I liked it better than the Sawyer Squeeze filter I've used in the past. The Dirty Water Bag was easier to fill than the original Platypus bladders and the loop helped hold on to the bag in fast moving water. My problem was with the dirty water bag connection to the filter. It was very hard to connect them. Eventually the first 1/4 inch of one of the bag connecting threads broke off making it harder to align and attach the filter to the bag. It worked but it took time to alight the thread and required quite a bit of torque. The standard thread was much easier to use and didn't fail. In addition the cap for the dirty water bag was very hard to attach so I didn't always attach it fully. Eventually it was lost after it popped off when collecting water from fast moving source. In the future I will probably use a standard bladder and water scoop due to my problems with the Dirty Water Bladder connection. Usage: 4 week, 240 mile JMT hike.

Awesome water filter!
Love this water filter! Quick and easy to use plus weighs nothing in your pack and takes up practically no space! This is my go-to for my backcountry trips and guiding fly fishing too! One note as with any filter ensure you filter water with no sediment or you will clog the filter!

Great Filter but fragile
I really do like the overall design of the QuickDraw Filter but after about 20-30 times of using it a piece of thread of the filter that screws to the dirty water bottle broke off which made it ineffective. I kept on trying to attach the filter to the bottle but it took such a long time and was so cumbersome that I decided to buy another water filter.

Failed integrity test out of the box
I bought this and it failed the integrity test out of the box. Platypus has not responded to my requests to have it replaced
