Narrower and longer
I finally decided to replace the Peal Izumi cycling shoes Ive been wearing for about 13 years. (I primarily wear them in spin classes.) These were a great deal, but are no were near as comfortable as the PI's Ive been hesitant to replace. Both pairs are size 40, but these are about a centimeter longer and a centimeter narrower...not a desired design change. These fit and will be okay for an hour ride in the classroom...but would probably be killing my feet on a longer outdoor ride. Otherwise, quality and style are nice. Hey, Pearl Izumi...please go back to making shoes that match the human foot shape!!!

Good Looking Shoe but toe box too tight

I love the look of this shoe and it seems to be well made. However, the toe box is too narrow, even though the length was good, I wore it around the house for about 30 min until m forefoot began to throb and hurt. I ordered a 39 women's and usually wear a 7.5 or 8 in casual and running shoes. I mostly wear Merrell, Xero, or NB barefoot-type shoes with wide toe box, so guess I'll have to spend more to get a Lake shoe with wide toe box.

Not for high instep
Overall seems like a good clip in shoe, but shoes were returned. I was hoping with the lace up style it would fit my high instep. Unfortunately there is a 1/4” strip of elastic that goes over the instep, this caused me pain after a few minutes. It looks like it could possibly be expanded a bit by snipping some stitching and releasing a small loop. I didn’t want to alter the shoe and not be able to return it. Guess I didn’t like them enough to give it a try. Be sure to use the sizing chart for correct length.

Wonderful for SPD or not.
I wore these on a 266 mile bike tour in my Gazelle e-bike. I didn’t use clips. We road in rain and they didn’t slip, and they were as comfy when walking as sneakers. Be careful about sizing! Read the size chart.

Use sizing chart, and get these!
These are the best cycling shoes even if you don’t use clips on your pedals. I’m not even a mountain biker, and they’re still great for preventing sliding on my pedals. I tried the non SPD version, and while prettier, I prefer these for comfort and non-slipping. These are very comfy for walking, so they’re perfect when you ride and then have lunch and ride again. Oh, I swapped the laces for tieless elastic laces in bright turquoise. Pay attention to the sizing chart!! I’m a 10 and while technically a 42.5 here, the 42 works best. I could also wear men’s 42. Also, the canyon has a bigger toe box than other Pearl Izumi shoes! Good for my feet. I recommend these, but take your time getting the sizing right. LLB chose a good biking shoe for all purpose riding.
