Why We Like The Outdoor Research Hemispheres II Bib Pant

After a fresh powder dump, we kit up with the Outdoor Research Hemispheres II Bib Pant to hunt down the goods. Deep fluff and fresh flakes can't get through the 3-layer waterproof construction, while the integrated gaiters stop it from finding another way in. Articulated knees and strategically placed stretch panels give us full kickturn and trick freedom, while the large outer thigh vents keep us from overheating.

Very comfortable and flexes where they need to while still being durable. Kept me dry all winter long.

These bibs are bulletproof! This is my second pair of Hemispheres and wouldn't ride with anything else. The gortex layer works extremely well and my originally pair still keeps me dry on those wet PNW days. These are the perfect weight for inbounds skiing and riding. For touring they can get a little warm depending on the weather, but the side vents dump heat quickly. Pockets are well designed and seem to stand up to multiple seasons of abuse.

quality and effective

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Defiinitely well made, and looks great. Keeps the water and snow out while looking great. My one reservation about this bib is that it is a narrow tight fit in the chest. Length is true to size

My only issue with these fantastic bibs which I have skied a whole season in and gone touring in a few times is that if I don't have a mid-layer on, the suspenders chafe my nipples, solved with some electrical tape and callusing.

Great bibs!

Size chart is spot on. Super high quality material and very water repellent. Perfect for a shell option for resort or back country

Bibs fit well for me and really like side zipper and pockets. It keeps me much warmer than I thought it would, and reinforced inside ankle mesh prevents skis from cutting pants wjen skating.

Fit exactly according to the size chart. No restrictions in movement. Very nice features. Not insulated. Easy to dump heat with side zippers. Color matches well with the remainder of my gear. Would recommend planning for a size up if you plan on putting any base layers underneath. Suspenders are comfortable. Looking forward to see how they work when using them for uphill terrain. Reinforced boot cuffs should last against some abuse and don’t collect snow.

Fantastic Bibs

I'm 6'2, 200lbs with a slim/athletic build. I got the mediums with regular length and they fit perfectly. It can be a little tight if you have thicker legs or a beer gut. Regardless, they fit perfectly over my snowboarding boots and the sweat bottoms I wore underneath. The zippers are great, front pouch is solid, and the vent zippers along the sides were fantastic when I was hanging out inside and getting ready to hit the mountain. No complaints here, definitely happy with my purchase and would 100% recommend, especially with the discount here. This is also the first pair of snow bibs I've worn in years, so I can't speak to the quality and build compared to other brands.

Great product.

I’ve used these pants a handful of times already. The bibs are a bit on the chest/stomach area while skinning (to be expected), but they worked great on the few storm days I’ve skied with them. I love the variety of pockets…they all seem to be the perfect size and not too bulky. I do wish they were a touch shorter (I have the medium and am about 5’10”) and had a longer vent on the sides. Overall, I am very pleased with these pants.

Well built but some weirdness

Overall well constructed. The fit was good (XL and I am 6' 240#), but some of the features are weird. The stretch in the groin is weird and feels likely to tear very easily. The hip pockets are in a weird spot. If either leg is at all flexed then it is impossible to get anything in or out of the pockets because the zipper is on the crease line. The side vent zippers go to just above the knee. I should know better to even entertain less than full zip sides because I wear knee pads and I had to "drop trou" to get my pads on.
