Here's what customers have to say
This lightweight, breathable layering piece is praised for its effective sun protection during outdoor activities in hot weather. The thin, quick-drying fabric keeps the wearer cool, though some note it can be prone to snagging and pilling with heavy use. Overall, this versatile sun shirt is considered an excellent option for providing sun protection without overheating.

very light and breathable
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times

I went on a tear and bought a bunch of different long sleeve sun shirts and the Crater Lake is my favorite so far. I bought a few Freefly shirts, OR ActiveIce and OR Echo shirts. The Echo is the lightest but the sun protection is low so I only wear it if it's overcast. The ActiveIce is heavier and less breathable but still nice, the Freefly shirts are very breathable and comfortable but they also don't offer the same sun protection.

Versatile
I've been wearing the echo hoodies for about two years now and it's one of my favorite outdoor tops. From day hikes to boating this shirt provides light weight breathable comfort. The hood is critical on extended days outside to keep the sun off of you when it matters.

Delicate material
I own 4 of these. I like em. They are very comfortable. My only issue is that the material is very delicate . I’ve snagged these shirts with my fingernails. You have to be very careful with them. I’ve even had the material wear under my backpack straps.

I bought this for my husband and it was a hit. Perfect for wearing while cruising on the boat, taking a dip in the lake and swimming at the beach. Fits great and dries quickly.

Breaking my heart
Love these shirts in a variety of applications & have eagerly been waiting for the Memorial Day Sale to stock up on a couple/few more. Imagine my disappointment at seeing the price went up, not down. Boo! Hard boo!

Great design, but not durable at all
Loved the design, weight of garment, style, but after one wear noticed small tears in the garment. Very fragile, not durable at all. Had to return it.

Hoodie fabric failed after 2 wears
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Disappointed with hoodie. After wearing just twice the fabric does not hold up. Multiple areas of pilling, loose fibers on the surface, and puckering. Outdoor Research said must be returned where purchased. Sent pics and Backcountry will not do an exchange. I just want to exchange for the identical hoodie and give it another try. Have multiple other Outdoor Research products and have been very satisfied. Disappointed neither Outdoor Research or Backcountry stand behind their products or what they sell.

Perfect sun shirt
I just bought my second echo, first hoodie, and I love it. First really sunny day in alaska out on the lake. Kept me very cool, no usual sunburn. The hood helped with wind and keeping those massive alaska mosquitoes out. The material is so soft, I never want to take these shirts off.

A must for any serious hiker or runner
I am a distance walker and use my Echo Hoodie in all seasons. it is very light and perfect for layering. The hood fits under or over a hat and keeps me warm on cold days. Whether the temperature is 90 or 20 this is the ultimate pullover.
