Why We Like The Ourdoor Research Carbide Bib Pant
We appreciate the fact that Outdoor Research created the Carbide Bib Pants for some of the snowiest days of the year, and outfitted them with stylish Arcade belt webbing suspender straps. Waterproof, breathable protection comes in the form of fully sealed seams and a 3-layer Pertex Shield construction, while a multitude of pockets carries everything from our wallet and phone to trail maps and avalanche beacon. Plus, OR even gave these bibs a Swing Hatch to help us answer nature's call when we're in the middle of a powder run.

Here's what customers have to say
The Carbide bibs are generally well-received for their performance in winter activities. They are described as waterproof, windproof, and breathable, with useful features like side zips and pockets. The bibs are lightweight and versatile, suitable for both resort and backcountry use. However, some customers have noted issues with the fit, with the bibs being either too large or too small. A few reviewers found the suspenders or leg openings to be problematic. There are also a couple comments about the bibs not being as warm as expected. Overall, the bibs seem to be a solid, high-quality product that many customers are satisfied with, though the fit may be an issue for some.

"User error"
I wore these less than ten times and had pinhole tears on one leg. It was frustrating that the material couldn't stand up to a handful of resort skiing days, even worse was that it the Outdoor Research warranty team was unable to replace them. I would absolutely not buy these again given the issues with durability alone, and will be staying away from other OR products due to their warranty issues, which is also frustrating because I have enjoyed numerous other products they make for both work and recreation.

Tight thighs
I used these bibs for backcountry skiing last year in the Colorado Rockies, and they are great for the warmer days where you still want to wear bibs. However, they're not the most windproof nor warm. These are great spring time bibs. My main complaint is that they are very tight in the thighs, loose in the chest. The tight thighs make putting a beacon in the thigh pocket uncomfortable. Unfortunately the beacon clip is also in the right thigh pocket. One of the best things about these gloves are the high cuff guard. They go up to about my upper calf, whereas most cuff guards only go up to the mid calf. If you wear crampons, this helps because I frequently catch my crampons on mid-calf area when going up steep terrain on other pants. For context, I am 6 ft, 225lbs with massive thighs, and tend to run warm. With these pants, I don't like to keep things in my thigh pockets. I think a redesign of the thigh pockets would make these pants 10/10. I thought the Cirque II sizing is the best for leg room.

Lightweight, breathable, waterproof
Been using these for one year about 75% resort 25%, total of 60+ days. They show minimal signs of wear. Love how lightweight yet waterproof these are. One complaint is they are a little tight in the knees and thigh

Great bibs. I’ve always skied with no. Insulated pants and a base layer. Super happy with them! They seem pretty versatile for multiple winter activities.

The bibs are fine but you'll need to size up unless you're rocking legs like twigs

Solid Bibs at a Great Price
These bibs are a wonderful entry point for anyone wanting to dip their toe into snow bibs. At their price and quality you receive you can't do much better without paying significantly more. These should not be your go to on a downpour/severely wet day as they will soak through. However if you live in a dry snow location or don't find yourself on the mountain in that type of weather they are a great choice for anything other than that situation.

great for bird legs
I had to get a large, short. Doing squats and working out made the thighs to tight for last season's medium. They are my go to bibs for ice climbing and teaching skiing on the rain days. Pertex is lighter and better than the new gore stuff. Ilike the big chest pocket and the beacon clip Would like to have full length zippers!
