It took around 10 miles for this shoe to click with me, and now its the only shoe i want to run in - period. Each time I grab my other runners, I genuinely wish it were these because the ride is just that good, however I'm relegating these to long runs and races to keep the tread as fresh as possible - although if these are to hold up like my Norda 001s, they wont have any tread problems AT ALL. The upper mesh is incredibly light feeling, soft, and breathable. This shoe is barely noticeable on foot when worn and completely locked down, only showing up in my mind when my foot strikes the ground for a moment. A small amount of slippage that I experienced in the first few miles of breaking in was completely resolved by lacing up all the way to the top hole. Now these have some of the best lockdown I have ever experienced, while also barely being noticeable on foot. Definitely do go up 1/2 size from your true shoe size at least as they do run small. I personally took 1 full size up, and because they run small it feels more like .75 size up instead. My toes have good room to splay and be comfortable while the mid foot and heel have no problem locking down at all. 1 full size up is my personal preference, but 1/2 size up is recommended regardless. This shoe will absolutely shine in terrain like you would see in Western States ultras - flat packed gravel, fireroads, ascends and descents all the like. The only scenario where I might opt for my 001s instead might be scenarios where you need to be very nimble and light with precarious or shifting ground under foot ( tree roots, ruts in the ground, loose pack rocks). The TPEE foam feels like it could go forever, and is incredibly comfortable and plush while still giving amazing energy return with not problems handling sharp points underfoot with ease. I have already decided these will turn into road trainers once the tread is gone (whenever that may be - far out in the future for sure). 5/5 shoe, would purchase again.
