It seems to work really well on my softshell jackets, both with and without gore-tex. For the gore-tex jacket I follow up with a waterproofing. Have used once per season for a couple of years on a few shells and haven't seen any negative effects

Do your research ahead of time prior to first use!

I did a ton of research on DWR treatment products prior to buying this Nikwax product. Fortunately, I did way too much research ahead of time and had really great results - both with the spray on DWR and wash in products. What I found to be most helpful for me: 1. Make sure to read the Nikwax instructions thoroughly ahead of time. 2. Check out some online forums and/or Youtube videos ahead of time as well so that you can see exactly what you'll need to do. 3. Don't try to take any shortcuts. For example, when it comes to fully cleaning out your washing machine prior to use with a wash in product, make sure it has been thoroughly washed out. 4. Know that even if it doesn't work out the first go around, you can always clean your garments and re-apply as needed until you get it right.

My softshell was filthy after daily use during a long backpacking trip, but after washing it with Nikwax cleaner and this Proof Wash-In, it's performing like new again. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking to refresh their softshell garments.

I've used this Nikwax - Softshell Proof Wash-In several times. It is the best way I know to refresh the DWR on soft shells. It's important you clean the garment properly first (with Nikwax Tech Wash or Atsko Sport Wash or similar). This alone often helps refresh the DWR as get dirty can interfere with the garment's water resistance. Washing in Softshell Proof adds a layer of wax that improves the DWR. I've had soft shells that were more water resistant than new once applied. It doesn't last forever, but it's good for a couple seasons in my experience.

My 16 year old marmot gore-tex softshell is still my go to for snowboarding and the Nikwax softshell line is all I use to properly clean and retreat. It has never let me down and couldn't be easier to use.
