Do your research prior to first use!

I did a ton of research on DWR treatment products prior to buying this Nikwax product. Fortunately, I did way too much research ahead of time and had really great results - both with the spray on DWR and wash in products. What I found to be most helpful for me: 1. Make sure to read the Nikwax instructions thoroughly ahead of time. 2. Check out some online forums and/or Youtube videos ahead of time as well so that you can see exactly what you'll need to do. 3. Don't try to take any shortcuts. For example, when it comes to fully cleaning out your washing machine prior to use with a wash in product, make sure it has been thoroughly washed out. 4. Know that even if it doesn't work out the first go around, you can always clean your garments and re-apply as needed until you get it right.

RUINED MY DOWN COATS!

DO NOT BUY. The wash in waterprooter completely ruined 2 of my long down coats. There are white spots all over both that won't wash out, even after 4 washes with regular detergent and without detergent. I did extra rinse on all 4 washes, no luck.

For Northwest down lovers

I live in the Pacific NW and love my down clothing and gear. I wear it under a waterproof shell when needed and down direct gives me confidence that even with some dampness I will still be warm. This is especially true if my sleeping bag. Condensation and leaks happen but down direct keeps my bag performing.

Useful for extending your puffy life

for it to work successfully you need to by the tech wash then the down waterproofing. Tricky to get the dosing for the washing machine right. It seems to extend the life of my north face summit series jacket.

Best gear cleaner out there!

Love this stuff! Environmentally friendly, cleans great, revitalizes gear and waterproofing, keeps gear out of the landfill! I would highly recommend to stop using normal detergent and switch to some proper cleaning!
