Why We Like The New Balance Minimus Trail Running Shoe

Bringing us closer to the trail, New Balance's Minimus Trail Running Shoe enhances our proprioception and agility on technical terrain. The minimal midsole cushioning springs every ounce of energy back into our transitions as it offers a touch of protection from the rocks and roots we bound over, and the multi-directional lugs reduce energy-leaking slips and slides while we're striding up and down steeps.

Customer Images

Here's what customers have to say

The New Balance Minimus Trail shoes receive mixed reviews. Some customers find the minimalist design, comfortable fit, and support to be positive features, describing them as good urban walking shoes. However, many are disappointed with changes to the design, feeling the new version has too much sole and cushioning, making it less of a true minimalist shoe. Several reviewers express a strong preference for the older model and wish the previous version was available. Overall, the shoes are considered a decent option, but not as good as the previous iteration that many customers preferred.

Feel natural on my feet

Feels like my foot is in a glove with cushioning. I love these shoes for walking or moderate hiking.

Less is More

I loved the original minimus running shoes, so I was a little skeptical about these; however, I love them! They do run short as running shoes tend to, so order up. I normally wear 7 1/2 in street shoes so ordered size 9. Perfect. I run on gravel backroads in Kansas and love the fit--my dog loves them too.

Hate the toe

Love minimus but don’t like the new camel toe front.

Love these shoes

This is my first time using a minimalist shoe and I love them. It took a few days to get used to them, but they are great. The color makes me smile.

Great shoe

I've always liked the Minimus, the trail was no exception. Great fit & preformance. I thought it ran slightly large, but great with a thicker sock.

excellent for gripping

these are like barefoot shoes only better as they don't get wet at the slightest water.

Good urban walking shoe

Minimalist yet provides support - I do not require grip, but if you do it is also provided.

Cool shoe

I haven't had a chance to run on a trail with these shoes yet, but they are really well made and fit really well. Excited to try these.

Surprising

The base is surprisingly sturdy and padded. It's light and responsive. Has a tacky feel on the traction. The upper part of the shoe is forgiving, but not overly flexible in the front. The rear quarter is stretchy, but it doesn't let your foot slide around on the sole. Highly suggested.
