FuelCell Rebel v5 Running Shoe energizes every stride with ultra-light foam and propulsive speed
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I’ve been running in the Rebel v5 for tempo days and progression runs—it feels fast without being harsh. The PEBA/EVA foam mix gives it serious bounce, and the redesigned fit around the heel and tongue is way more comfortable than previous versions. It’s super light but still durable enough for high-mileage weeks."
We run to move forward—faster, lighter, and more freely—and the New Balance FuelCell Rebel v5 Running Shoe is built to do exactly that. With a sleek, race-inspired silhouette and a featherlight build, the Rebel v5 brings high-energy performance to every mile, from long aerobic efforts to sharp interval work. Its PEBA/EVA midsole blend maximizes bounce and speed, giving us the explosive feel we crave on the days we want to fly.
New Balance redesigned the outsole with more rubber in key zones for durability without adding weight, while the revamped heel and tongue design improve comfort and lockdown at speed. The engineered mesh upper keeps airflow high and weight low, and FantomFit overlays add structure without bulk. Whether we’re chasing a PR or just pushing through a quick morning loop, the Rebel v5 keeps the pace lively and the ride fun.

Amazing Trainer!
Got these for my new daily trainers. Straight out of the box these shoes felt great. The you can feel the rocker push you forward and the little pop that wants to give you some help. First run was 2 mile tempo run with 1 mile warm up. I'm not fast though had to go 9:00/mi for the 2 miles, easily was able to hold a 8:45-8:40/mi pace. Both the warm up and cool down pace were great as well. Plenty of cushion to support all of my daily training to include some intervals. Really looking forward to getting these out for a long run. The fit is great, I wear a 12.5 and order that size. Plenty of space for my foot to swell during runs. Shoe breathes well too. Excellent shoe!

These shoes are fast boiiiiiii
So far I’ve ran 42 miles in these shoes and I have nothing but positive things to say. The previous shoes I had were the Brooks Ghost 16 and compared to the FuelCell Rebel v5 is night and day. I love the cushion and the responsive foam the shoe provides. This is a great shoe for running long miles, tempo runs, short runs, slow runs, what ever run you need to do this shoe can handle it. First time I ran in these shoes I got a PR in the ten mile.

Fuel cell v5
recently logged my first 100 miles in the New Balance FuelCell Rebel v5, and I am seriously impressed. New Balance has taken the best parts of the previous version and matured the shoe into a phenomenal "do-it-all" daily trainer. If you're looking for one shoe that can handle easy days, long efforts, and still pick up the pace for tempo runs, this is a top contender. The Ride: Bouncy, Soft, and Stable The biggest upgrade is the cushioning. The Rebel v5 features a higher stack of the PEBA/EVA FuelCell blend, which feels incredibly light yet delivers a soft, bouncy, and protective ride. It absorbs impact beautifully, making those long runs feel less taxing on the legs. While some purists might say it lost a little of the aggressive "pop" of the v4, I found that trade-off completely worth it for the improved comfort and versatility. It feels smooth and controlled at moderate paces, making it a joy to run in every day. The Fit: Dialed In The upper is a significant improvement. The fit feels much more locked down than previous models, thanks to a redesigned heel collar and a more padded, intentional tongue. It’s breathable, comfortable, and provides plenty of room in the toe box for natural toe splay—a huge plus for longer runs. I experienced zero hot spots or slippage right out of the box, which is rare for me. Minor Caveats The main drawback, and why I'm giving it 4.5 instead of 5 stars, is the durability. Because the FuelCell foam is so soft, the outsole rubber is showing wear sooner than I'd like, especially in high-wear areas. It’s something to keep an eye on if you plan to put serious marathon-level mileage on these as your only shoe. Also, while it can handle faster paces, it’s now more of a performance daily trainer than a pure speed demon. For serious speed work or race day, you might want to look at a plated shoe. Final Verdict The Rebel v5 is easily one of the best value shoes in the current market. It’s light, comfortable, versatile, and just plain fun. It has secured a permanent spot in my rotation for nearly all my daily runs. Highly recommended for runners who want a cushioned, snappy, non-plated option that’s truly capable across different distances and efforts.

Good looking and comfortable daily trainer
This is actually my second pair. I liked the first pair enough as a daily running shoe that I wanted another for walking and wearing around. On my feet, the upper, tongue, laces, and heel cup fit and feel great. And for me, the shoe compresses enough to be comfortable on easy runs and walks, while also having enough snap for picking up the pace.
