Powder Maven Anorak blends waterproof performance and freeride function in a classic pullover style
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"This anorak’s my go-to for storm days and park laps. The side zips make it super easy to get on, and I love how warm but breathable it is. The style’s classic, but it packs all the tech I need for serious days on the hill."
We ride for the moments between first chair and last light—and the Mountain Hardwear Powder Maven Anorak is right there with us. Designed for freeriders and all-mountain explorers, this classic pullover silhouette combines Dry.Q® waterproof protection with thoughtful mountain-ready features to keep us dry, warm, and moving freely through variable conditions.
From bootpacks to lift lines, mapped thermal lining keeps the warmth balanced, while dual side zips let us dump heat or pull it on fast. The helmet-compatible hood and integrated RECCO® reflector elevate it for backcountry objectives, and the stash-friendly pocket layout means our pass, phone, and mitts are always in reach. It’s the layer we trust from stormy glades to bluebird groomers.

Neutral colors needed!
I would love to purchase this if it came in black! While I love many of the funky designs and colors MH is known for, you can’t go wrong with basic black. It’s a shame none of this season’s colors would match any of my existing gear, as this has all the features I’d want!

The Perfect Fit
I am 5" with a 36in chest so often times when I order small its to tight around the chest but at a good length. The overall boxy fit of this was perfect with side zips that make it easier to get out of, if I wish that it unzipped all the way on the sides because I wear bibs and it'd be helpful not to take the entire jacket off to go to the bathroom but with pants this obviously isn't an issue. Overall this jacket performs well in snowy conditions and is easy to layer under it you like. I have yet to take it out during wet conditions but I feel confident it would do good.

Looks good, performs OK
I own an older version of this jacket but the style and features seem to be the same. I am 5'0", 108 lbs, athletic build, short and stocky. I have used it during backcountry skiing between 9-20 F, resort skiing, and general standing around. I live in the PNW. It is not my go-to jacket but it gets a 5/5 star rating on how flattering it looks. Mountain Hardware designed a good looking jacket on the ladies! Construction gets a 5/5. The zippers and sealed seams will last a while. The material is very durable. I think with proper care, this jacket would last me a lifetime. For how much it claims to be warm, I would give it a 3/5. Waterproof 4/5. Despite its charm, I think this jacket is impractical for a backcountry skier who only rides resort a handful of times. It is great on cold dryish lift days or as a general mid-winter jacket in town....
