Why We Like The Moab 3 Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot
No matter if the forecast calls for rainshowers or sunny skies, the Merrell Moab 3 Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot always gives us the traction, comfort, and protection we need as we navigate rough terrain. Like its predecessor, the Moab 3 is equipped with a waterproof and breathable membrane to keep our feet well defended against accidental puddle slips or light moisture. Plus, we appreciate that the Vibram TC5+ outsole provides unencumbered traction underfoot thanks to its 5mm lugs and multi-directional design.

The hiking boot receives mixed reviews. Many customers praise its comfort, durability, and traction, but a significant number report issues with waterproofing, with some experiencing wet feet even in light rain or dew. Great for Sawteeth, Pyramid, and Gothics day 1. Better for Esther and Whiteface day 2. Couldn't be happier with fit and comfort of my Moab 3.

Not Waterproof
These hiking boots are very comfortable with great traction but they leak very easily despite their waterproof label. My feet got soaked thoroughly walking through lo g wet grass.

Great Traction
I bought these boots about 4 months ago. I’ve done plenty of hikes in them in muddy, rocky, and dry terrain. The grip on these boots are great and even though they are waterproof I haven’t had any discomfort or overheating even in 85 degree weather. For reference I wear size 12 on most sneakers like Nike and New balance and I went down half a size and they fit perfect.

Quality is dropping
The last two pairs of Merrell shoes I have purchased have begun to come apart at the sole after a year or so of intermittent use. For the cost I expect better and have become disappointed in Merrell's quality. Not sure I would purchase another pair.

Happy Camper
I have been a Merrell fan/customer for 20+ years. The break in period does not exist!!!! Either purchasing online or at a sporting store, comfortable the first wear!! I use these for mild to heavy hiking trail environments. I really like everything about Merrell hiking foot wear!!
