Why We Like The Mammut Neon Gear 45L Backpack
Succinct organization, that's the name of the game that Mammut's Neon Gear 45L Pack is playing for rock climbers. It's like a portable closet for sport climbers, with internal straps that let you hang your quickdraws like jackets, and the external top strap fixes climbing ropes so you can maximize the pack's 45L capacity for a day's worth of essentials. Mammut also added a rope bag to protect your climbing rope from dirty crags.

Fantastic Crag Pack
Very happy with this pack after a couple of quick sport climbing outings. High quality material, sits comfortably, and very spacious. Should have plenty of space to add my trad rack as well later this fall. Worth every penny!

Favorite crag pack ever so far?
I've been climbing long enough to have 50m ropes be standard when I started. They were pretty easy to shove in the bottom of a pack. The modern 70 and, certainly 80, not so much. The design of this pack being wider at the top (although funny looking) makes dumping your rope in no big deal. In addition, for 45L it seemed to just gobble up gear. Easily able to fit a full sport alpine setup in this one pack - 70m rope, 20 draws, 4L water, shoes/harness/device/chalk, food, layers, helmet. All IN THE PACK. No strapped to the outside nonsense. Bonus: racked up and left pack for an 8 pitch climb with hour walk off and came back to a still cold beer buried in the pack which seems to have some insulation properties from the padding! Has a hidden rope tie down system on the top which I haven't used but if I wanted to bring a feast of food to a trad crag, maybe I would use this feature? Haven't climbed with the pack on so can't speak to that. Seems bulky for that purpose. Didn't use the back panel access much since the pack sits upright on its own and was just easy to get gear in and out of that way. The two pockets on the top are perfect for me. Small one accessible from outside is padded. The inner one is huge and mesh allows you to visualize gear. Will see how the mesh holds up over time. . Rope mat is small but quite functional - especially for sport climbing and moving route to route. One outside compression strap rather than the usual two. I didn't use them for compression (and rarely do on other packs) but do often use these straps for stick clips and having just the one made that less awesome. Sometimes wished climbing packs had a dedicated spot to carry stick clip. But not a dealbreaker. Overall very, very happy after first few weeks of use.

Great Crag Bag
This bag is great, I’ve had it for about 4 or 5 months and it’s always been great. Here are a few things I really enjoy about it: I have 12 QuickDraws, an ATC and GriGri, locking carabiners, and slings and they all fit on the loops inside the bag. There’s also enough space for a helmet, rope, climbing shoes, chalk bag, harness, and climbing books. There’s a few pockets on the inside and the outside of the lid that make for a great spot for extra energy gels or even a rope tarp. Also, the bag has an external zipper that gives you access to the entire bag if you just need to grab something off of the bottom instead of taking everything out just to get your chalk bag. I think it’s a great bag for beginner climbers all the way up to very experienced ones as it could definitely fit a rack, however maybe go with the 55 if you’re trying to pack a full rack. The only thing I’d add is a water bottle pouch on the outside of the bag as I climb in Red Rock NP and it gets pretty toasty out there. For the price you can’t beat it!

Absolutely perfect
This is my second Neon 45 first one was stolen unfortunately but loved the first bad so much that I had to buy it again. Fits all of my climbing and my wife's climbing gear for when we go inside or outside. The rope tarp is a little on the smallish side but definitely big enough for 60-70m ropes if you flake consciously. The bag itself is super durable and we end up tossing it around the crag l, back of my truck, and in the gym and have no signs of wear or tear other than dirt and scuff marks. The bag itself is very lightweight and waist clip is a lifesaver when hiking out to the crag. Overall would recommend this bag to anyone looking for a large climbing bag to store a ton of gear!

Bag is a great size. Plenty of room for all my climbing gear. The loops inside at the top are great for hanging carabiners/devices to keep it organized. The included rope bag is nice as well. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a larger gear bag.

Fantastic Climbing Bag
Fits all my indoor/outdoor gear with room for clothes for the gym. I keep my helmet inside the bag so if I throw a 60m rope inside, I have to just clip my helmet on the side of the backpack with my shoes and chalk. This bag is definitely more for people who are carrying more gear. If you weren't going to bring a bunch of gear, you can probably go with a smaller bag. But I love the gear loops inside the back for quickdraws/carabiners and other climbing gear.

A Great Crag Bag
I’ve used this bag for two years now to carry both my sport and trad rack, along with extra gear like 30 meters of static rope and our 70 meter climbing rope. Not only does it carry weight well to and from the crag with the integrated hip belt, but it also is super durable. One thing I love most about it is the easy access to the interior of the bag via the back panel that is able to be unzipped. I know I’ll have this bag for a long time since it basically feels indestructible, and I’m glad I’m stuck with a bag that feels so great on my back.

Really nice
Love, Love, Love. So many climbing packs are featureless, single chamber, fabric, 5 gallon buckets..... not this one. Buy it, you will love it.

Great pack
I haven’t used it in a crag yet but I am sure it will be a blast with all the technical details.

Great crag bag
Loved the versatility of the bag. The quick draw hangars make it easy to organize your gear. All the handles made it easy to haul as well.
