Why We Like The Drone Low Volume Black Edition Climbing Shoe

We love the Drone Low Volume Climbing Shoe because it offers the aggressive, downturned profile we like for bouldering and sport climbing with attention to detail on the fit. The rubber sole and toe area are stretchy and thin to provide a hyper-responsive feel for micro-footholds that tend to appear on difficult problems. This low-volume offering is ideal for narrow feet and shorter insteps, but Mad Rock also makes a high-volume version of the Drone Shoe for larger foot shapes.

If I could only have one climbing shoe..

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
9.5

If I could only have one climbing shoe, this would be it. I wear size 9 M in street shoes and have narrow feet, and the Drove LV?s fit me perfectly. For the LVs, I size them up half size to 9.5, and they are perfect. Snug out of the box with no pain, and they only stretch a tiny bit since they are vegan/synthetic. I can?t rave enough about how amazing the heels on these are. I?ve worn performance shoes from all the major brands, and hands down, the heels on the drones are the best on the market today. It feels almost like cheating when you use the heels on these shoes. There?s a slight ridge on the heels where you can actually crimp on microfeatures with your heels. I hope whoever came up with that design got a major raise. Frankly, I use this shoe for everything from steep wall to technical face climbing. On all terrains, I find myself reaching for these shoes most often, and it?s never been the wrong choice. In short, get this shoe. You won't be disappointed. (and the all black version looks so good!)
