Why We Like The La Sportiva Vega Alpine Touring Boot
We started to get tired of the lack of downhill performance provided by dinky touring boots so we turned to the La Sportiva Vega Alpine Touring Boot. This boot thrives on the downhill with a stiff 115 flex and 4-buckle design. Sure this means the uphill will be a little harder, but a huge 60° range of motion lets us stride naturally.

Great touring boots
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- 24.5
After visiting a bootfitter, I bought these boots based on measurements of my low-volume foot and the fitter's recommendation. They fit great though I had to size down and then have some fitting done on the length. For most people, they'd probably feel great right out of the box. I previously had the La Sportiva Sparkles and loved those as well for all kinds of backcountry touring and some mellow resort skiing. The buckles and tongue allow for really easy on/off, which I especially appreciate given that I have to add thicker liners. Overall these are great boots - my feet are happy!
