Why We Like The KEEN Targhee IV Mid WP Hiking Boot
We like our hiking boots to be comfortable, which is why we like the KEEN Targhee IV Mid WP hiking boot. This boot has Luftcell foam embedded in the midsole for extra cushioning while the KEEN fit gives our toes a little more wiggle room. We also like the look and feel of the Targhee's soft yet protective leather uppers, which have been sourced from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group. New for 2024, the 4th iteration of the Targhee is more durable than its popular predecessors with a new glue-free KEEN.FUSION bond that won't delaminate and also features a few cosmetic tweaks that distinguish it from the older Targhees.

Here's what customers have to say
The hiking boots are generally well-received, with customers praising their comfort, durability, traction, and support, even on challenging terrain. Many find the boots to be waterproof and lightweight, with a wide toe box. However, some customers experienced issues with the sizing, reporting that the boots ran large and required thicker socks. A few were disappointed with the limited color options, and a small number felt the boots lacked sufficient cushioning in the ball of the foot area. Overall, the boots appear to be a solid choice for hikers, though customers may want to order a half-size down from their normal size.

Great for people with high instep!
I love these Keen boots! They are perfect for people with a high instep and / or a wide foot. They have more "volume" for a high instep. They have a generous toe box for a wide foot.

Great hikers
Very comfortable and lightweight; after trying them on in the store, I ordered a half-size bigger because they felt too short. The bigger size is perfect.

New model not the same
I’ve had at least 3 dozen Targhee mids and normally they’re perfect from day one. This is my first pair of IVs however and have been a train wreck for my toes and knees. Called Keen to see what was different with this new model. Recommended going a half size up (explained my toes) and the sole is a different material which my knee didn’t care for. Not LLBean’s fault. I’m going to have to track down some Targhee IIIs.

Horrible Laces, Boots Run True to Size
I bought a pair of the Hikerkind style of the Targhee IV and the web page said they ran large so I ordered a 9. 5 instead of a 10 and when I got them, they were slightly too small and I should have gotten the 10, as I have with other Keen’s, so they’re true to size. They came with 2 sets of laces and I wanted to put the darker pair on, as I was removing the lighter pair, the cheap, plastic tips of the laces flew off, making the lighter laces unusable again. This is a problem! I only tried the boots on and walked in them briefly but they seemed very comfortable and well made otherwise, definitely didn’t wear them long enough to know for sure.

Sturdy and well fitting.
They are very sturdy and a great color. Fairly comfortable but I will need to add a padding.

My Go To Boot
I’ve had maybe 2 dozen of these boots and I keep coming back for more! My feet are not the easiest to keep happy but these do the trick.

Terrible arch - kneeproblems
Targhee IV a my replacement for Targhee III, where the uppersole/sole line lasted less than 3 months normal use. T IV looks nice and is easyer to tie. The inside of the boot feels higher, but it is also more narrow - especialy in the toe, which is a disadvantage with the orthopedia soles I am using. The boots has been warn in temperatures around the freezing point. To my surprise the feet felt cold the first 20 minuts. Never happend before. Unfortunate I recently have developed a right kneeproblem after wearing the boots for 5 hours. I think the old style Keen's with real leather had better qualities and wearability back.

Good, but. . .
This is my 5th pair of Keen boots. As always, they're comfortable/ready to wear right out of the box, lightweight and appear to be solidly constructed. The only negative is the fit this time. I ordered the same size as I always have worn in Keen (although there was a suggestion to downsize in the description). One boot is slightly loose, but the other is definitely a bit too big - though not a complete half size. Hopefully I can get around the issue by tightening the laces more and wearing my thicker socks.

Great all around boot
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great all around boot that is not too masculine. Nice comfortable and seems well made.
