Why We Like The Targhee II Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot
Lacing up the Keen Men's Targhee Mid II Hiking Boot feels like shifting our feet into four-wheel drive. Their four-millimeter lugs grab rough terrain, while the waterproof and breathable Keen.Dry insert keeps our feet dry. The dual-density, compression-molded EVA midsoles cushion and absorb shock so we can return to the trailhead without achy feet. The mid-height cut protects our ankle from rolls and twists, and Keen's heel support structure cups the heel so we experience less slippage and blisters.

Here's what customers have to say
The hiking boots are generally comfortable and supportive, with a wide toe box and good ankle support. However, many customers have experienced issues with the durability, as the soles and uppers have separated or worn out prematurely. Some also report the boots are not as waterproof as advertised. While the boots provide a good fit and comfort, the quality and longevity seem to be inconsistent, leading to mixed reviews.

Best hiking shoes
I got these boots 4 years ago in wilderness therapy and backpacked 3 months in them. I wore them everyday during that time, in the snow, in lakes, in muddy terrain, you name it. I currently wear the same pair everyday for work at a doggy daycare and within the past month they just started to show some separation and holes. That being said, these are by far the best hiking shoes I have ever had. They are reliable, durable, and comfortable so this is your sign to get them if you are thinking about it. The price reflects the quality. These shoes are unmatched!

The tread is coming off my boots
I've been wearing any type of shoes for probably close to 10 years. This is my second pair. The first pair split at the toll they replace them. At the store. Then six months later the tread starts coming off of these

Not waterproof and poor construction
I've had good experience with Keen boots in the past, but something has changed. As other reviewers have mentioned, these boots wore through on the toes after minimal wear. Worse though, they are not waterproof, not even close. Wore them recently on a mountain hike on a drizzly day with gore-tex gaiters tight around the tops of the boots, and my feet were drenched at the end of the day. Neither the outer materials nor the Keen-Dry liner provided any protection at all. Don't waste your money on these.

Torn shoes
I have always had a good experience with keen shoes. I currently have multiple pairs and I had another pair of the targhee shoes. However, I did not have a good experience with this particular pair. After minimal use (the shoe is otherwise fine), both shoes tore at the toe break. I am not sure if this was just a sub-standard pair or if the manufacturing changed. Regardless, I do not this I will try another pair of these.

I have been wearing Keen
I have been wearing Keen for more than 5 years and love them. The side ripped out from lots of use and tried to order the exact boot and size. The boots have changed a bit and size 11 is a lot bigger the the size 11 I’ve been wearing.

Poor quality
My husband has worn these shoes for years because of the comfort but they do not last long. When he first started wearing them they lasted longer( maybe a year) the last 3 pair he has purchased has lasted less than 2 months before the soles started coming apart. He glued them to try to get some wear out of them but we will never purchase another pair because the quality is not good and the price is high for shoes that lasts for less than 2 months. . . . also the comfort is not there anymore either.

Great Hiking Boot
This is my third pair of this particular hiking boot. I love the wide toe box with plenty of room for your toes. The ankle support is good also. Since I am a woman with a size 11. 5 in women’s, the men’s boots don’t always fit. But these are perfect. I highly recommend!

I had high hopes for these.
I like how comfortable the boot is/was but not the durability. I bought these in September of 2023 and the traction part of the sole started separating from the left boot in October of 2024. Since it was after the warranty I have been using superglue to try to get a little more wear out of them. I only wore them hiking a couple of times and the trails weren’t tough. These saw more concrete and asphalt than anything else and they weren’t my main shoe to wear. Before these I wore Merrill hikers. I had a four year old pair of Merrill’s that went on a longer hike in Montana than hikes these saw combined. Both the same price point. Before buying these I had read a review by someone else that had the same problem but I thought they must have mistreated those. Well that’s not the case. I will tell you that these really feel great on my feet and I wish they would have held up better.

Eh
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not impressed with the quality of materials and craftsmanship. Your product quality has diminished over the past few years. This will be my last Keen purchase
