Durand Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot

The Keen Durand Mid WP Men's Hiking Boot is a waterproof medium-weight hiker that's designed to offer out-of-the-box comfort for hiking and backpacking trips. It has plenty of cushioning to keep your feet comfortable on rocky trails and under loads, starting with a removable dual-density footbed, continuing to a PU midsole and heel cushion, and finishing off with an integrated PU stability shank. The waterproof nubuck leather and mesh upper is soft, comfortable, and, most importantly, outfitted with a Keen.Dry waterproof and breathable membrane to make rainy days and soggy trails nothing more than points of interest. Even the dual-compound rubber sole sticks to mud, roots, and rocks, so you never have to be discourage by rugged weather and wet ground.

Dangerously Slippery Soles

First, I really appreciate that they are made in America. I’ve worn these boots for 2 years and the fit and construction is great, but they are the sole of the shoe is very very slippery. If you step on the smallest rock that’s a little wet, log, roots or step on a damp tile floor it is like you are ice skates. I wouldn’t recommend these until they fix the sole. Maybe I’ll try an anti slip work boot model next, otherwise I find Merrill hikers to by less slippery. I would really like to exchange them if I could.

Love these things!

This is my 4th pair of these boots. I absolutely love them! They are completely comfortable (after the break-in period) and last a very long time. I’ve been wearing hiking boots exclusively for 17 years now. And these are the only ones I keep going back to.

Not the same Keen

I have been wearing Keens for longer than I can remember. Particularly the Durand. They are not the same quality or fit they used to be.

Great bit flawed

These are probably the best fitting most solid feeling keen hikers I've tried out. No break in. They fit like gloves. The leather seems perfectly molded to the sole which is soft but not too much so. The only problem is a crafting failure which created a wrinkle at the bottom lacing on the right boot. This would probably never clean or waterproof correctly and crack over time.

Poor thread stitching & leather itself is NOT wp.

Stitching in the toe area failed and instantly starting leaking after only 8 months. Also the leather is absolutely NOT waterproof. The first pair I got years ago were not either, so nothing has changed there. A split second under the faucet will prove to you that it just "wets-out" almost immediately, so you will should waterproof them yourself.

Boots

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very well made. And they are comfortable. The more they wear in the better they are.

Overall decent value

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have ha several pairs over the years. Quality seems to be down a little. The pair I am currently wearing the stitching is coming apart on the outside of the right shoe.

American Built

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned several pairs of Durand line specifically because they were at least assembled in American. Thorogood offers a great line up of American made as well that I buy when Keen changes lineups and makes more outside of the USA.
