Wonderful and comfortable backpack

I have been using an old Sentinel 65l backpack from High Sierra and it did not really fit me well and was too bulky. I decided to treat myself to a new backpack and evaluated this against Gregory Paragon and Osprey Atmos backpacks. The other packs seems to be too bulky and carried a bit far from my body with the suspension systems and are noisy. Blaze 60 fits me perfectly, and mets all my space and attachment requirements. It is also silent and sturdy with 30lb of gear!! The biggest bonus ,for me, that the belt that converts to the daypack which cames very handy on our basecamping trips. My only small gripe with this pack, is that straps are so narrow and numerous, and most of them are the same size which make it a little bit confusing in setting up the webbing. The material also seems a little thin, but so far I have no issues with durability to report. To summarize I have very positive experience with this pack, and whole heartedly recommend Blaze 60.

Fantastic features but a painful ride

Fantastic features, but unfortunately an uncomfortable ride. The weight sinks hard against the sacrum in a way that I could not adjust the straps to compensate. I love the pockets, compression straps, side access, and removable convertible brain with hip pouches. It's super lightweight and cheap. I wanted it to work so badly, but I just wasn't convinced it was going to work for a long-term treks. I felt compelled to go with another pack.

Best all round bag I’ve ever used.

I’ve used this for +4 night backpacking trips and it is my go to climbing bag. This thing is a beast. It can carry my 60m rope, trad rack, and any other gear I need comfortably. it’s been snagged on branches and rolled down jagged rock and it still in one piece. I was between this a the Atmos when I was looking for a new backpacking bag and don’t regret my choice at all. This is a jack of all trades that has handled every challenge I have thrown at it. I have a long torso for my height so I got the long and am happy with my choice. Could not recommend enough.

Backcountry got this item packed, shipped and delivered within 2 days of me ordering which I couldn’t be happier about. Haven’t got to bring this pack out just yet, but I can tell it’s a beast, the adjustable hip belt and shoulder straps are super convenient and easy to use. It’s got a lot of storage and the bag is very well made. I’ve also heard the customer service regarding their lifetime warranty is good as well which is reassuring to hear.

After using an Osprey Atmos 65 for nearly a decade, I switched to the Granite Gear mainly because a friend of mine was getting into backpacking and I gave them the Osprey as an excuse to try a new pack. While the Osprey served me well, the Granite Gear seemingly fixes everything I disliked about it. (This review is based on several backpacking trips, including one where I did a 10 mile, 4,000 foot ascent in a single day.) Despite being 35 percent lighter without much of a supportive back panel compared to the Osprey, I don't feel any comfort is lost. In fact, the Osprey would always pinch my left shoulder no matter how much I tried to adjust it — it would always be sore at the end of a trip. The problem is gone with the Granite Gear. Other problems it fixes: The side pockets were too small and too shallow on the Osprey — my Nalgene bottles could pop out if something knocked against them. And it was especially hard to put bottles pack in them when the pack was on my back — I could never easily reach my arms back there. None of that is the case with the Granite Gear — the pockets are luxuriously big and deep. Another annoyance with the Osprey was that the hip pouches were too shallow, and when the hip belt was pulled tight around my waste they could be difficult to open and close. Problem again solved on the Granite Gear. Finally, I love that the bag is covered in compression straps — really well thought out. So far I've been very happy with the Granite Gear. Highly recommend.

Very good backpack

Familiarity:

I got to use the pack for an overnight stop. Plenty of room for all the necessary gear and any additional stuff. Only feedback would be to have a lighter coloured interior to make it a bit easier locating things in the dark.

Great backpack for price

Bought this for my son to do philmont in 2025. He's done some training hikes and overnights so far. Carries load well, plenty of room, very adjustable, lightweight, sturdy, and very versatile with the daypack feature and lashing options. Only one minor 'flaw' is on the black backpack all the buckles and straps are black which just all blend together making it tough to know what goes where. Fairly minor but bit of a nuisance. Regardless, I highly recommend.

Pack fits great once properly adjusted, and carries weight like a champ. Stretchy material allows for cramming in a little extra. Nice and light for a 60L pack. Happy camper.

Performs like a pack twice its weight

It's new to me and I've used it for one day hike and one multiday trip (3 nights). So far, I've been very happy. It's not light enough to be a true ultralight (ie close to 3 lbs not < 2) but it's far more comfortable than a true ultralight and far more capable with lots of features those don't have. Actually in terms of comfort and features it rivals many packs at 5+ lbs. The waist belt is very comfortable. The straps adjust to fit nicely. AT 6'1" & 175 lbs I'm just between the regular and tall size, I went with regular and it fits well. I really like the adjustability of the waist strap, it actually gets thin enough for me. The side pockets are easy to reach while walking. The removable top was handy for a quick summit side jaunt. Overall I was very impressed.
