What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I never head into the backcountry without my inReach Mini 2. It’s small enough to clip to my pack strap but powerful enough to send two-way messages and share my location when I’m miles from service. The TracBack feature is a lifesaver—literally—and the boosted battery life means I can track multi-day missions without stressing about recharging."
When we’re miles beyond the grid, the Garmin inReach Mini 2 keeps us connected and confident. Its palm-sized design slips easily into a hipbelt or chest pocket, while satellite communication capabilities ensure that no matter how remote we roam, help is always within reach. From sending quick messages to loved ones to activating an SOS in an emergency, it provides peace of mind in the most rugged places on earth.
Garmin packed this little powerhouse with big-time upgrades: enhanced battery life for extended expeditions, a new electronic compass for accurate headings even when we’re standing still, and TracBack routing to retrace our steps when visibility fades. Plus, syncing with the Garmin Explore app lets us plan, map, and navigate our routes with precision. Built to handle harsh conditions with an IPX7 waterproof rating and impact-resistant housing, the inReach Mini 2 is our trusted partner for every backcountry pursuit.

A great additional tool to have in my pocket in the backcountry or just traveling in areas where there is zero to limited service. There are a few areas that it doesn’t work, but I haven’t encountered very many. This is what you need for emergency backup communication.

Mini two
Have not had a chance to use it in the field. But initial set up was very easy.

Not that great
Considering other options that also provide cell (and satellite) options to both call and push-talk walkie-talkie, and those other options are less expensive and without a high use fee... I wouldn't have purchased. Do your own due diligence ( unlike myself)

Nice upgrade
I had a Spot X for 8 years and luckily never used it. It was time for a new one so I went with the Mini 2. I like the size, features and ease of use. Reccomended.

Works When You Need It
I love this satellite phone! It is small and I keep it on my belt loop. It sends out texts & emails fast. I am always in touch with civilization, even when cell service is down (hacks, emergencies, natural disasters).

Ugh
I need a beginners class on how to use it. Thought I knew how to send a message but nope. Couldn’t figure it out.

Very simple and user friendly
I had this unit in very remote places in Idaho with zero complaints. At times it took longer to send a message with clear sky views than others. At times it sent messages instantly under poor sky views. All in and all worked fantastic!
