Windshield Hooded Rashguard offers windproof, zero-absorption protection for tropical ocean conditions
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"This is the most dialed rashguard I’ve ever worn for windy, tropical sessions. The Windshield coating completely blocks wind and doesn’t absorb water, which is a game changer for long paddles and surf days. Heads up—it fits tight, so I always size up."
When the tradewinds kick up and the sun refuses to let off, the Florence Marine X Windshield Long-Sleeve Hooded Rashguard steps in as a best-in-class barrier between you and the elements. Evolving from the cult-favorite original rashguard, the Windshield version takes protection further with an advanced coated outer layer that blocks wind entirely and absorbs zero water—making it an instant essential for serious water athletes in tropical conditions.
Built with a highly compressive fit for muscle support and minimal drag, this rashguard features a three-panel hood, UPF 100+ body rating, and a recycled polyethylene visor that won’t dig into your forehead. Flatlock stitching, raglan sleeves, and 4-way stretch construction provide total mobility and comfort during long sessions, while the internal boardshort tie loop keeps everything secure in powerful conditions. When long hours in the ocean are the norm, this is the piece we trust to go the distance.

Not purchasing again
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer

I'm 5'11, 170 pounds, evenly proportioned. I bought a large and have used it 2-3 times a week for the past 3 months. I've never been able to wear this rashie more than a couple hours without getting irritating abrasions to my underarms, the inner crease of my elbow, and my nips. Irritation from the rashie has, on more than one ocassion, been the reason I get out of the water (which is basically the antithesis of this product). If I was surfing two sessions in a day I could only bear this rashie for one of them. Within that complex, I had to be wearing this rashie consistently every few days to have some kind of tolerance to it. If I took a week away from it, I would leave the first session back in it feeling halfway flayed, tearing up putting on my deodorant. Now, after about 3 months, the rashie has worn in a little bit--which is why I can no longer wear it. Even though it is just a little bit looser it chafes me so so SO much worse I am actually preferring to boil in my 3/2 because I can surf longer/more comfortably overheated than with the rash this rashguard gives me. Did I order the wrong size? Did I get a bad apple? Maybe. Did I overpay? Yeah, big time. I got one ok-ish month out of this thing, and if I'm going to be creating so much waste by buying multiples/things I'd rather at least not lose so much $$$. Do yourself a favor and get 2 Ripcurl rashies for the same price and tell yourself your purchase helps keep The Eddie running/Tom Curren doing Tom Curren things.

Great Top fro Surfing
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Surfed a couple times and loved the feel and fit. Not as restrictive as a normal neoprene wetsuit, very easy to move and paddle in this top. Love the green color too!
