Shaman Climbing Shoe delivers aggressive power and all-day comfort for steep routes
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I’ve climbed in a ton of shoes over the years, and the Shaman keeps surprising me. It locks my foot in with just the right amount of downturn and support. The Love Bump and Knuckle Box work together for a super secure toe feel, and I can climb hard in these without my feet screaming after every pitch."
From steep gym problems to outdoor overhangs, the Shaman Climbing Shoe from Evolv is built to match our most aggressive moves with precision and power. Designed in collaboration with Chris Sharma, this shoe balances performance with comfort—so we can stay focused on sequences instead of sore toes. The downturned shape and tensioned rand support confident footwork on small holds, while the flexible midsole adapts to smears and volume hooks with ease.
Trax SAS rubber grips reliably on plastic and rock, and the triple Velcro closure system makes adjustments fast between burns. A synthetic upper limits stretch over time, while Evolv’s signature Love Bump and Knuckle Box features eliminate dead space and relieve pressure where it counts. From toe hooks to micro-edges, the Shaman offers a powerful, high-friction connection to every surface.

Great indoor bouldering
I've been wearing these at my local gym lately. I was a big fan of the first Shamans so I finally decided to give these a try. They fit my feet very well and they're comfortable for the couple hours of climbing I do. I haven't climbed in them outdoors yet. Toe is solid enough to stand on tiny foot holds. They've been great on everything from slab to overhangs. I like the three Velcro straps on them, keeps the shoe tight to my feet. If you're a fan of Evolv shoes, definitely give these a try.

Fantastic shoes
My girlfriend convinced me to try these (been her main shoes for 5-ish years now). Love them. Comfy but still firm and compact. Pretty aggressive build but then it feels more aggressive with the extra downturn at the toes. Well designed.

Painful break-in process.. amazing grip
These are NOT beginner shoes. You have to be accustomed to regular foot torture to appreciate the nuances of their capabilities on the right feet

Excellent performing shoe
I do a lot of indoor and outdoor bouldering and this shoe has been all around great! It performs really well on small edges but can still do well on slopey smeary feet, the heel works really well and with the velcro my foot is never sliding around in the shoe / heel never pops out like some other shoes I've tried. I also have very wide feet and find the shoe stretched nicely to fit my foot comfortably.

I'm a really big fan of how hard these shoes let you climb when the route is really overhung. I feel like they give me a ton of leverage on tiny holds and really allow me to pull hard when I can lock in a good heel-toe cam. I gave them four stars instead of five because as good as they are on inverted routes and roofs, they're not the best when you get onto something more slabby.

On my way to buy again
Helping open a climbing gym with brand new holds quickly wore away a single spot on the toes, but I am still able to get on some v5's and 6's without too much stress. Great shoes, even when you see it's first hole, and honestly the first climbing shoe that fits my heel. I would say this shoe is great for intermediate to advance, be ready to break in the shoe, but when it happens, aghh it's great.

Personally Love These Shoes
Breaking these in wasn’t particularly comfortable but after a few sessions these fit like a glove and I have no pain wearing them. I wear a 10.5 and half sized up (per the evolv reps recommendation) and I’m glad I did. Keeps me locked in on footholds and they smear pretty well too. Plenty of rubber so these should last me a while. Great shoe if you want something aggressive and sturdy. Not the most sensitive under your toes but that’s kinda what I wanted, the rubber is not super soft so you feel comfortable on smaller footholds. Love these, I recommend them to anyone who’s had experience in intermediate level climbing shoes, otherwise if you’re getting into the sport you might want to consider something a little less aggressive.

solid shoe
I've had the shoe for a good 9 months and they are just starting to show wear a bit. I'm a very active climber I usually climb 5 days a week for around 3 hours. With that in mind, they held up really well and have fit to my foot pretty well making them comfortable enough to walk around in. They still will last for a month or so. they are still grippy and I would buy this again but I'm most likely going to upgrade to a different shoe within the Evolv.

How are these supposed to fit before break in? My toes are crunched all the way into the foot but my heel has a lot of room so I am unsure if it is going to break in properly or if this is just an issue of foot shape?

What size should I wear for a snug fit? My street shoe size is 11.5 US Men, I’ve been climbing for a few good months now and I want a shoe that’ll give me a bit more performance but won’t kill my toes

Do you recommend a true fit for the new shamans? I wear a street size of US M 8. I got the same size for the shamans and boy they are tight tight on the toes. Any ideas on how to stretch them (if any) a bit? Not a fan of the ice method.
