I was an spd rider for decades. Once a year for about a month I'd swap out spd's for flats to keep bad spd habits away, but these pedals turned me into a full time flat pedal rider. Compared to all other flats I've ridden (like the Stamps), the Supervillain pedal is by far the best pedal for that "attached" feeling - without being attached. Admittedly I'm not a pedal designer, so I don't know what they did to achieve this level of greatness, but I do know what I like - and I like these pedals. A lot. My first few rides were mostly me trying to get used to the amount of stickiness. The soles of my riding shoes stay in place like no other pedal I've ridden. This took some getting used to since there is no easy way to reposition my feet without coming slightly off the pedals. I realize that's the whole point, but compared to other pedals I've ridden -these things keep you in place better. Also, the platform is slightly wider than my other pedals, which meant I had a few pedal strikes in places I didn't normally have pedal strikes. But, once I got used them my pedal strikes happened much less. In the air these pedals still make you feel attached to them as well. As any spd/flat pedal rider might tell you, a simple bunny hop after riding spd's for a while shows you what you were doing wrong on spds once you swap to flats. These pedals reduced the "whoops, my feet became separated from my pedals" moments. Or, I'm finally a better jumper. Either way - they just feel better. I went with the orange color - which looks great on my '23 Switchblade in black.
