Why We Like The Trail 2650 GTX Hiking Shoe

When our favorite hiking trails were recently covered in rain or snow, we trek past the trailhead with the Danner Trail 2650 GTX Hiking Shoe. A durable and lightweight suede and textile upper combined with a GORE-TEX waterproofing defend against weather and rocky abrasion alike, while a breathable mesh lining lets heat escape to keep our feet at optimum temperature. A reinforced heel counter and TRAILGUARD platform provides optimum stability when scrambling rocky ascents, and an OrthoLite footbed and EVA midsole absorb shock and provide all-day comfort for longer hikes. To increase traction in all conditions, a Vibram 460 sole with Megagrip technology keeps our feet planted without slipping out.

Tight

Love the look. Fit is very tight, maybe I need to break them in more.

First time buying Danner shoes. It looks well made but is very narrow,. My guess is that 75% of men will need a wide shoe. Very lightweight without much support. Next time I will switch back to Keen. It's a much better shoe

Good value for good quality.

LLBean offered what is hard to find: waterproof walking/hoking shoes.

Nice shoes

A nice shoe that keeps my feet dry in the morning. They are comfortable but I wish they came in a wide size option. Why don't the shoe laces stay tied? I double knot them and the laces still come undone. Would have given them 5 stars if they had come in a wide size.

Questionable quality.

First Danner and possibly last if the quality of upper is any indication of rest of shoe. Clearly a design flaw and bad material that is wasting way after 7 weekends of light use and about only 20 miles of hiking. Light and comfortable. Waterproofing seems adequate thus far but very suspect based on upper disinigrating.

I have had two pairs of the 2650 GTX. The good: They are super comfortable. They will keep your feet dry. They run true to size. The bad: The first pair lasted 3 months before the stitching separated at the liner and the outer shell, right where you put your foot in. (Maybe there is a technical name for the foot hole, like an aglet). Backcountry promptly replaced them and I wrote it off as a bad pair. The second pair lasted 18 months before displaying the same symptoms. I still think they may be my favorite outdoor shoe, I just wish they lasted longer. I have come to expect more from Danner

I wear these at work and I stand most of the day or am moving around a lot on my feet. Theses are pretty comfy and rarely do they bother my feet and if the do it is just for a short time so may just be my feet. I think they look good and seem to be built pretty well.

I?ve been really impressed with the overall comfort of these shoes. They?re relatively lightweight , provide good arch support, and look good especially for a hiking shoe.

Pleasantly surprised at the day long comfort of these shoes! I waited a month or so to post this review. In that time I?ve tried these shoes on day long treks in the Utah desert and throughout the Wasatch mountains. After finishing a 16-mile day hike which included rocks, stream crossings, and some snow trekking with crampons, I?m sold on the shoes. The tread provides moderate grip, and the gore Tex uppers repel water quite effectively. The support and comfort are superb! As I get older, I?m happy to have a little more cushion in my step. It?s early but the shoes are holding up well to all the abuse I?ve dished out. My only two criticisms are the insoles and the look. I did not like the insoles at all, but this is common for me and it may be due to the shape of my foot so I put the same insoles I put in all my backcountry footwear, that solved that problem. The last gripe might be just the eye of the beholder, but they look pretty lame to me. No matter, they carry me around just fine. Size 13, narrow feet, mid-high arches. I thought the sizing was true.
