Why We Like The Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Amped Hiking Boot

As soon as the snow melts, we can't wait to grab our pack and start hiking again. This year, we trust the Columbia Newton Ridge Plus Waterproof Amped Hiking Boot to help us check off our list of hikes near and far.

Built with sturdy leather uppers, the Newton comes accented with rubber and mesh for extra durability and ventilation, as well as a fully waterproof membrane to keep you dry on saturated spring trails. With its ankle height, the Newton Ridge provides the support your lower half needs when you're shouldering a daypack or weekend backpack. Springy midsoles keep you cushioned on loamy or rocky trails alike, while grippy rubber outsoles stick to slick rocks and exposed ridgelines to keep you surefooted on uneven terrain.

Great Boots

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These boots have been great! I was a little worried they might rub the top of my foot but I have had them a couple of weeks now and no problem. Also I know color doesn’t matter in hiking boots but these are a really cute shade of brown. I would recommend these boots to anyone!

Good Comfortable Boots

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought these for a trip to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Glacier National Parks, where I knew I would be going on some challenging hikes. These boots were perfect on sand, rock, and snow! They are waterproof (though I didn't submerge them completely in water), which also means your feet will feel hot in the boots, but I think that is the trade-off. I saw at least 5 other girls with the same boots! I got some compliments as well. I'm a size 6.5 - 7 and I got a 7, but I wish I tried the 6.5 to compare. 7 was comfortable, my toes were not cramped and I was able to wear thick socks. I have flexible ankles and twist them a lot while hiking, so the extra ankle support was nice. When I wanted more flexibility, I laced up to the second-to-last aglet.

Great Waterproof Shoe: Mountain Tested

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got a pair of a similar pair of waterproof Columbia's two years ago and got these to replace that pair. I hike it rocky, mountainous terrain with lots of water crossings and these hold up very well and keep my feet fairly dry. Highly recommend them.

Great right out of the box!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Solid boots right out of the box. I intended to break them in before a 15 mile hike but ended up only walking about 2 miles in them before that hike. The 15 mile hike had 3500 feet elevation climb in rocky trail. Needless to say my feet were fatigued at the end but only ended up with one small blister on a toe. ankle/heel felt fully supported and overall great traction on the bottom.

Hike boot

Not a bad beginner boot, but not a fan of the back being so short because it digs in the your upper heel while hiking up and down a mountain. The foot part of the boot was very comfortable. I got the wide option and glad I did. Overall comfortable walking on level ground just the low back is uncomfortable for mountain hiking.
