Why We Like The Chaco Rapid Pro Toe-Loop Sandal

Tested by raft guides and athletes for optimal performance, the Chaco Rapid Pro Toe-Loop Sandal lives on the water. The upper's pared-down buckle and the heel riser's 30-percent increase in nylon boost comfort and durability when we're stabilizing in whitewater. Slick foot braces don't get the best of us with this sandal's sticky Vibram Megagrip sole optimizing its wet-surface traction: The Biting Edges at the toe and heel grip relentlessly, the grooved lateral lugs increase grab points, and the micro-siped center lugs disperse water for increased contact surface, while a wrap of forefoot rubber minimizes wear.

Durable and good performer, but flawed

First, what this sandal does well: It's easy to adjust it to achieve a secure fit, movement and grip are great on all surfaces you'd even want to think of wearing sandals, and it's proven durable -- five star ratings for all of these specific traits. However, the toe strap tightens a lot. I need to adjust mine every time I wear them -- or even on the same hike if it's long enough. Constantly making the same adjustments to your footwear shouldn't be a thing, minus a full star just for that. Also, these things are ridiculously heavy. The excessive length of the adjustment strap is also a nuisance, but ultimately not nearly as big a deal as the toe tightening and weight. I also own the Z/1 and Bodhi. The Z/2 provides more secure footing than those other options, particularly on steep or rough terrain as well as in water. That said, I won't buy the Z/2 again -- the toe loop issue in combination of the excessive weight is too big a deal for me.

Excellent shoes; I highly recommend

Best walking sandals I have ever bought; straps are secure; they hug the feet well, and don't slip when wet; they don't smell, even after they get wet; attractive style, and do not show dirt. Six stars.

Not as comfortable as previous Z2's

Not nearly as comfortable as my previous Z2's. The straps are hard/coarse compared to previous straps causing pressure/and abrasive, potentially blister-forming points of contact?

Great Sandal!

I bought these about a month ago and have been wearing them every chance that I get. I absolutely love them! They are very comfortable, fit well, are versatile in the type of terrain you can be confident wearing them in, and just generally look great. My only two complaints are: - I like the look of the toe loop but sometimes the pressure of the strap on the top of the foot causes the toe loop to tighten and crush your toe. If I would buy this shoe again (which I would) I would buy the version without the toe loop. - the strap that is meant to tighten and loosen the shoe just kind of hangs loose on the side of the sandal which can be annoying. I wish there was a way to secure the strap so it wasn’t so annoying. I will likely cut this strap to a smaller size to lessen the annoyance.

I would recommend this product.

The first time I tried on the Z/2 sandal it had a rigid and uncomfortable feel. Fortunately, they “broke in” after a weeks time of wear!
