What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"The wide fit makes all the difference—no more pressure on my toes or arch. The cushioning is super smooth underfoot, especially in the heel, and it holds up really well on longer efforts. A go-to daily trainer for sure."
With the Brooks Ghost 17 Wide Running Shoe, we get the same trusted comfort and performance of the original Ghost 17, now with an accommodating fit that gives our feet the extra space they need. Whether we have naturally wider feet or simply want more wiggle room, this version provides the plush feel and stability we count on for high-mileage training.
The updated cushioning in the heel and forefoot works with Brooks' DNA LOFT v2 midsole to create an effortlessly smooth ride. Combined with a structured engineered mesh upper and a 10mm drop for balanced transitions, the Ghost 17 Wide is ready to keep us comfortable from first mile to last.

Here's what customers have to say
The reviews on these running shoes are mixed. Some customers found the shoes to be comfortable, well-cushioned, and suitable for activities like running and walking. However, other reviewers were disappointed, noting the shoes felt narrower, less comfortable, and lacked the same level of support as previous models. There were also reports of fit issues, such as the shoes rubbing the ankles or causing blisters. Overall, the changes made to the design seem to have been polarizing, with some loyal users unhappy with the new version while others are satisfied with the updated shoe.

Love these shoes
I have been running for years and thought it was just normal to have some foot pain afterward. I got these shoes two or three weeks ago and have been amazed at how comfortable they are. I should have switched to Brooks long ago.

Go back!
Why does Brooks have to keep changing a perfectly good shoe, in fact changing it so much that it no longer feels good or is even 'ok. ' I've had Brooks Ghosts since model 13. The 17 is so built up around the ankle that it is uncomfortable. the whole shoe bed feels cramped compared to older models in the same size and width/

Brooks really poo poo’d the bed on these! I’ve been wearing Ghost for years this update they are a completely different shoe. Snugger, lower, softer sole, and narrow…very narrow. This update is so squishy they put my ankles at risk. These were a complete waste of money!

First Ghost I returned. Horrid design this year.
I’ve been wearing Ghosts since Ghost 6 in 2014, eagerly ordering 2 pairs a year in whatever colors were available in narrow width. This is the first year I returned the Ghosts. Hard NO. This years shoe is one oddly shaped shoe. The shoe opening no longer hugs your ankle. Instead it is puffy foam that while soft still manages to cut into my outer ankle bones and rub my heels. There is a gaping action around the ankle which will invite gravel and other debris to enter. There is an odd back tab that sticks out the back of the shoe. The laces are short. Thankfully I managed to find last years Ghost on a clearance site. Fingers crossed Brooks will jettison this horrid design by next year.

GHOST FOREVER!
For me the Ghost series is my go to option. I run casually, but also go to a HIIT class. I can use this shoe for both. Very comfortable and love the color

Different fit
Same support but too low of ankle and too high of back, rubs my achilles. Miss the Ghost 16

Perfect show for a HIIT class!
My last pair of ghost were the 15 and these 17 are so much better in my opinion! I am a 9 in the glycerin and ordered 9 in these as well. These Ghost 17 are a little bit more roomy in my opinion but still perfect for running or wearing them to a HIIT class! They are soft on the feet when running but stable enough to lift moderate weight. Some reviews mentioned the shoe is very narrow but it felt perfect for my foot.

Not if you roll outward
The Ghost Max 3 worked better for me. The Ghost 17 fit well but my issue is that I roll outward at the heels on many shoes....I know, most people roll inward. The way the heel is formed on the Ghost 17 made my heels/ankles roll outward more easily. The Ghost Max 3 kept my heel/ankle straight. If you do not have this issue, you will like either shoe.

Happy Feet
I have liked the Ghost lineup for a number of years. They offer a nice cushion and good firm heel containment. Unfortunately, I have recently decided that my supination is out of control. Wearing on outside edges badly. I am now giving the Adrenaline shoe which is a little more firm a try. So far so good.
