Ghost 17 Wide Running Shoe offers cushioned comfort and a spacious fit for consistent road miles
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I’ve always loved the Ghost for its smooth ride, and the wide version is a game-changer for all-day comfort. No pinching, no pressure points—just soft, balanced support and a roomy toe box that’s great for long runs or higher-volume feet."
With the Brooks Ghost 17 Wide Running Shoe, we get the same soft, consistent ride of the standard Ghost 17—now with extra room through the forefoot and midfoot for enhanced comfort and fit. This version is perfect for those who need more space without sacrificing structure, stability, or the plush cushioning Ghost is known for.
Updated with DNA LOFT v2 foam, the midsole delivers a smooth blend of softness and responsiveness, while added cushioning zones in the heel and forefoot ensure reliable comfort through every phase of your stride. The wide platform keeps things stable, and the engineered mesh upper made from 59% recycled content rounds out the ride with breathable, supportive coverage.

Here's what customers have to say
The product provides excellent comfort, cushioning, and support, with a soft and responsive feel. It has a neutral heel-to-toe drop and works well with orthotics. However, some users experienced issues with the heel collar causing discomfort or blisters, and the outsole wearing down quickly. Additionally, a few customers were disappointed with the limited color options, especially for wider widths.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Out of all of the running shoes Brooks really figured it out. Best running shoes I’ve ever owned. The comfort and look and just amazing

Shoes, look and feel good, lighter than expected. Great balance for indoor or outdoor running, plenty of support in the insole which has all the feel.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The shoes fit extremely well, running on treadmill or running outside. I run from 3-6 miles at a time either in or out and these shoes have been great with no leg fatigue at all . Recommend.

Bring back the old Ghosts
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did not like them at all. Whatever Brooks did between the Ghost 15 and 16 has been awful. The Ghosts used to be THE shoe for softness. Older pairs I've had (10, 13, and 15) have been amazing right out of the box, like stepping on a surprisingly supportive marshmallow. I tried the 16s and now the 17s, and they are way too firm to the point my feet ache. Being back the soft Ghosts! Also, the color of the black and orange 17s were a bit misleading on the website. They originally looked all black with some orange accents, but upon getting them, I saw the gray reflective panels all over. I thought they looked more like hiking boots than running shoes. I sent them back and am now trying the Glycerin 22s, to see if these are comparable to the old Ghosts. Brooks, whatever you guys did... undo it.

Outstanding shoe for walking or casual wear
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Ghost 17 - really working well for me. Very supportive and comfortable for me. My right foot supinates - Ghost 17 helps immensely. Works well with orthotics.

Disappointed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was introduced to Brooks with the Ghost 15 and I have thought I had found my shoe for life. Unfortunately, the Ghost 17 cannot compare. The shoe is just not comfortable, and it’s to the point where I don’t even want to wear them. The toe seems tight and support seems lacking. The Ghost 15 was something I looked forward to wearing. I’m not sure what was done to the Ghost 17, but I’m sure there would be a lot of people in line for a new pair Ghost 15’s if they were available. I’m just sayin’…

Show not proportional to size listed.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I ordered a 2 E which is wider than the standard size W. This shoe is not a 2E so because of the size difference I can only give this shoe a 2 rating.
