Ghost 17 Wide Running Shoe offers cushioned comfort and a spacious fit for consistent road miles
What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:
"I’ve always loved the Ghost for its smooth ride, and the wide version is a game-changer for all-day comfort. No pinching, no pressure points—just soft, balanced support and a roomy toe box that’s great for long runs or higher-volume feet."
With the Brooks Ghost 17 Wide Running Shoe, we get the same soft, consistent ride of the standard Ghost 17—now with extra room through the forefoot and midfoot for enhanced comfort and fit. This version is perfect for those who need more space without sacrificing structure, stability, or the plush cushioning Ghost is known for.
Updated with DNA LOFT v2 foam, the midsole delivers a smooth blend of softness and responsiveness, while added cushioning zones in the heel and forefoot ensure reliable comfort through every phase of your stride. The wide platform keeps things stable, and the engineered mesh upper made from 59% recycled content rounds out the ride with breathable, supportive coverage.

Here's what customers have to say
The running shoe is generally considered comfortable and well-cushioned, but some users have reported issues with durability, as the soles and treads wear out quickly. The fit and sizing also seem to vary compared to previous models, with some finding the heel collar too rigid or the cushioning too spongy. While the shoe has many positive reviews, there are also significant concerns about its long-term performance and fit.

By far the best running shoes I've ever had. I have tried hokas and these brooks make them feel like Payless shoes. These are definitely worth every penny. I'm a heavy set dude. I am 5'7 280 and ran 2 miles and these shoes are amazing to run on. I would definitely recommend these to everyone. Glad I listened to other people online. Should of listened sooner though.

Nice shoe but fits a little too snug
The Ghost 17 fits somewhat snug/tight, but feels good worn with a thin Feetures ultralight sock. Anything thicker it feels too tight for me. The Ghost 15 feels roomier for me and I can wear a neutral or thicker sock with it. The Ghost 13 overall has been the best fit for me but obviously no longer available.

They're really comfortable shoes for walking, and the cushioning especially feels nice and big.

The Decline Continues
Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse than the Ghost 16, behold, the Ghost 17, ta-da! The outsole that wraps up around the toe began coming unglued on the very first day of use, which only consisted of walking and a kneeling a few times. Beyond that, the graphics on the side of the shoe, where Brooks prints their name, also began coming unstuck within about a month of use. I've got Ghosts going back to 11, but these are by far the worst edition I've encountered, and they were also the most expensive.

I’m am overall pleased with the shoe however for me at my age I need more support in the arch and balls of my feet as well as a little more room in the toe box area like the Glycerin Max offers.

The shoe is nice, however, the back of it with the heel cup area is awful. I wear orthotics and have never had problems with my heel sliding out of the back of the shoe but this new model is not good. My heel feel like it will slide out any moment and I have to overtighten the laces to keep my foot in which is uncomfortable.

New heel too short, feels like shoe will slip off.
New heel design makes shoe feel like its slipping off my foot. After many generations of ghosts, I need to find a new go-to shoe.
