Why We Like The Black Diamond HighLine Stretch Shell
The Black Diamond HighLine Stretch Shell is the type of layer that has a place in our pack every time we head for higher elevations, perfect for windy early morning starts and stormy afternoon descents. The BD.dry membrane is exceptionally waterproof and breathable, keeping us comfortable while we tote a heavy pack up steep mountains and deflecting snow and wind as we work our way up the skin track. The stretch fabric gives us our full, natural range of motion, and since it packs down small, we can keep it in our pack and be ready for anything the mountains throw at us.

Bought for Rainier
5’10” 185 athletic build, bought the medium and fits perfect. Color looks great, and could not be more excited to try it out later this month. Great job BD.

Shipped broken. Called to get this replaced via RMA and the replacement order was never placed. I had to call Backcountry to get them to place the replacement order. Then it never shipped. I had a long drawn out chat with a customer service representative who gave me conflicting information. 3 weeks and my replacement is still not ordered. They said it won’t be delivered for another week or more from the new order date, which is not even placed yet.

Purchased for early season 14er.
Purchased for early season 14er. At the summit all I had on was this and a base layer and it kept me just warm enough not to sweat. Fabric feels high quality and folds up super small and incredibly light.

Lightweight and does the trick!
I was surprised pulling this out of the package at how thin and lightweight it is. However, it kept me dry during 4 hours of rain the other day. The only downside is that it's a little bigger/baggier than expected. Maybe size down.

Awesome start
I’ve owned a lot of rain jackets in my time. They mostly start good, this one is great so far. I especially like that it’s long to cover my butt or account for layers. Ultimate test is will I still like it in two years.

Lightweight, solid all-around parka
I will use this as my 3 season parka for outdoor activities. I’m 5’10” and the jacket sits a little long = just above mid-thigh, 10-11” below the waist. The arms are a bit long, 24” from pit to cuff. The color is a bit more olive than the green you see in the online photos (sunny photos attached). Plenty of pockets, but only one internal pocket. Also, the side pockets are at ~9” above the bottom of the jacket. Put zips are not full length as shown, but the zippers work good vs. Outdoor Research jackets. The jacket is lightweight compared to my BD Recon shell and it is definitely packable. Overall fit is slim and tall like most BD clothing.
