Why We Like The Distance Z Trekking Pole
The Distance Z Trekking Pole is Black Diamond's value-packed trekking pole that doesn't slack. Its strong aluminum design is light, weighing well under a pound per pair. Breathable EVA grips and adjustable straps make it easy to clutch while ensuring it won't slide away if take a tumble. Plus, the Distance Z features the same collapsible design as the other Z-series poles—a button releases the sections for stowing, and an avy-probe pull grip slides it back together when we're ready to set off.

Awesome*
Love that they are so lightweight and easy to deploy, but wish that the wrist straps were a little wider and(or) more supportive for long steep ascents. In addition, I would prefer that the grip was a little larger diameter with a larger top for more comfortable palming on descents

Great light poles
I am really happy with these trekking poles. I had an older model I bought many moons ago and one finally broke when I took a tumble while snowshoeing. Not a fault on the manufacturer, gear breaks and these things lasted me close to 10 years with many mountains under their belt. I need to use them pretty much anytime I’m doing something technical since I have some neurological problems and balance isn’t always on point. I like how light and strong these are and they’re simple to put together or breakdown. Strongly recommend these for long treks or running.

Great while they work
They are excellent until they get the slightest bit dirty. Then they get stuck and it's impossible to get them unstuck. Tried to get them out of my quiver during a race and was unable to. Cleaned them and used them one more time before one pole got stuck to the point I could not get them extended at all. Work great while they're brand new, but I would not recommend them for anyone who plans to do a lot of trail running or intends to rely on them in an ultra race.

Great Ultra poles
I bought these poles as a back up plan after being diagnosed with an injury a week before my first 50 mile ultra race. I only practiced with these poles once before the race and found them super easy to use and store in the Solomon quiver that I have. If it wasn’t for these poles, I would not have finished that race. These poles helped me so much and were so light and comfortable. They essentially add no weight in the quiver and are so easy to operate with one click of a button. I highly recommend these trekking poles!

Very light, easy to manage.
Very light, easy to manage. This is my 4th set over the years. Once used it never wants to be another kind of pole.

Terrific poles
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- 100 cm
I bought the Z poles to take on a trip where my regular collapsing poles wouldn't fit in my checked bag. The Z poles were perfect. I know you're supposed to lengthen/shorten when going down/up, but I never do. I bought the poles that fit me for level terrain and they were wonderful. These are light and sturdy, and I'm planning to use them more often.
