Edge, smear, and jam with confidence in the Aspect Pro Climbing Shoes

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I took these out for a full day of granite pitches and was blown away by how supportive and precise they felt. The molded midsole gives great edging power, and they broke in faster than I expected. These are the shoes I’ll be using for long trad missions and technical faces."

We’re out chasing big lines and technical routes, and the Black Diamond Aspect Pro Climbing Shoes are built to meet those demands head-on. Whether we're jamming sandstone cracks or smearing on granite slabs, this high-performance trad shoe gives us the support, durability, and precision we count on when we’re deep in the route.

Black Diamond's innovative rubber-molded midsole enhances edging power without sacrificing sensitivity, while the engineered knit tongue keeps airflow moving during hot belay stances. The flat profile and stiff feel make these perfect for sustained vertical climbs and long days in the mountains. When we’re heading out with a double rack and a full pitch list, the Aspect Pro is what we lace up.

Here's what customers have to say

The climbing shoes are generally well-received, with many praising their comfort, grip, and performance. Several reviewers noted the shoes fit true to size or required sizing up, with a relatively short break-in period. Many found the shoes to be an improvement over the previous model, with better edging and smearing capabilities. The lacing system and ankle support were also highlighted as positive features. However, some reviewers experienced issues with the fit, particularly in the toe box and heel area, which affected the overall precision and technical performance. Overall, the shoes appear to be a high-quality, versatile option well-suited for all-day trad climbing and other demanding uses, though the fit may not be ideal for everyone.

They fall apart.

Poor build quality. I have climbed in dozens of shoes and have never had a shoe delaminate like this one. The rand rubber separates from the upper and the sole separates from the rand. After less than 20 pitches, the outsole was delaminating to the point where I had to stop climbing in them. After reaching out to BD, they called it "normal wear and tear". So heads up, 20 pitches might be the lifespan of this shoe, and they will consider that normal.

My TC pro replacement

I tried on tc pros but they didn’t fit my foot right, so I took a chance with these. Love them, heel is super comfortable, the laces dont losen at all. Did a sketchy trad route , shoes felt great the whole time

top notch

These climb a lot better than my TC Pros, albeit, more fitted.

Way better than expected!

Was on the fence about these shoes… absolute beaut of a purchase! Would 10/10 recommend to a friend. Super grippy, comfortable and feel quality! I ordered .5 up in size and was a perfect fit for me!

Great fit and performance

Have had these shoes over a year now and wanted to submit a review. The rubber is confident, the fit is comfortable, and the break in period wasn't too bad depending on how often you climb. Have gone through the range of single pitch routes, multi pitch routes, and a few alpine climbs and have really enjoyed the performance and feel especially on the longer days. This was my first BD shoe and I will certainly buy these again when current pair is retired. I would recommend trying them on as they were not my typical sizing from other brands.

Super Comfortable

I’ve been putting them through the wringer, through multi-hour climb sessions and I’m the only person who doesn’t have to take their shoes off. While there’s still an occasional shoe fart, they perform great, doing well with slab smearing and edging on every hold I’ve put them on. Can’t recommend enough! I do normally wear a 13-14 and went for a 13 in this which fit great!

Excellent

I had to return and order a full size up. Actual size was close but far more scrunched in the toes than other brands. Sized up and feels perfect. Amazing grip

Risk it for the biscuit

So far they’ve been great! Normally wear a 13.5-14 street shoe, depending on the brand, decided to risk it for the biscuit and order a 13 in spite of everyone saying to go up. They ended up fitting perfectly to be comfortable for a long day at the crag but still edge great on small holds due to the slight camber. The laces are a great addition and for someone with a, typically, low volume heel, these are perhaps the first to fit perfectly. Excited to defy gravity more in these! *There was a bit of the shoe farting but that’s all but disappeared after a few climbs. If I hear it walking around, I just treat it as a reminder to re-tie my laces.

Better than TC Pro?

Can't remember if I've reviewed this already, but I can say again, BD knocked it out of the park with the aspect pro. Is it really better than the TC Pro? Comfort for all-day - YES. Stuffing the shoe into a crack - YES. Technical performance - Similar. But BEWARE - the sizing on BD shoes is OFF...I have to size UP a full size, maybe even a size and a half.

Good shoes, but the glue is kind of bad.

I got this pair about 2-3 weeks ago, climbed 8-10 days with them, and loved the fit and the grip, despite the foot farts. Anyways, the Glue started to detach at certain spots (near the small toe on both feet and on the inner sides. I don't think it is normal for such a nice and performing shoe. Still love these shoes, but I remain a little dissapointed.
