Top-tier Sun Hoody
I love this Alpenglow hoody with all my heart and own 4 of them now in varying colors! The fit is perfect for tall, athletic builds with long enough arms and not baggy chest fit. The hood perfectly accommodates a climbing helmet and does not choke you or restrict movement when up! The material is straight-up magical - it protects you but is woven in such a way that it really does keep you very cool in hot environments. I've used it in the hot and dry Rockies, hot and humid Florida, hot and muggy Virginia, and hot Texas and it performs incredibly well. I never feel muggy or sweaty in it as it's always venting and providing the perfect layer. I've also used this in colder weather and it works great there too - it's like the adobe of clothing, keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter. I've used it rock climbing, mountaineering, skiing, backpacking, and general outdoor use! You will not find me outside without it!

The best shirts I own, Period.
Ok. These shirts are the best shirts I own. Period. Hard stop. I have 6 of them in various colors. I wear them to run, hike, backpack, do yard work, sit on the beach, and go on the boat. They are my immediate grab for anything outdoor. I’ve ran trail marathons in them, done 3 day backpacking on the AT in 1 and they hold up so well. They don’t smell and they don’t get stretched out. I can work out in the yard doing chores, cutting grass, cleaning chicken coop, gardening etc. these shirts hands down keep me way cooler with the UPF protection. 95* days in full sun I am long sleeves and hood up and feel better than wearing a tank top. I love these shirts and highly recommend them to anyone reading this. They are high quality, durable, and worth the money. They do occasionally go on sale and that’s when I buy a few. I will keep buying them as long as they sell them.

great base layer!
used this hoody hiking in the High Uintas where it goes from blistering sun to downpour on many summer days. it was great to shield from the sun as well as insulate u der my rain jacket. I plan to use it canyoneering as well.

Sizing changed
Just a heads up, the sizing is about 1 inch smaller all around now. Bummer for some of us. If the letters on the back shoulder are all caps, it’s the new smaller version.

Sizing changed this year
A heads up for repeat buyers, the sizing is smaller now this year. You can tell the difference from prior year to this year due to the lettering on the back. If it’s all capital letters, the sizing is smaller.

Alpenglow is the best sun shirt
Have looked at/tried most brands of sun shirts and determined that Alpenglows are the best. The fabric of most is so delicate that I feel like I have to handle with extreme care, that it might snag on a sharp fingernail or whatever. These have a weave that makes them more durable. They also dry fast - I didn’t time it but it was barely on the hanger. Some YouTube reviewer commented that the higher the upf, the tighter the weave, meaning a tradeoff in breathabilty. In this sense I wish I’d gotten the Alpenglow Pro, which has venting mesh at the armpits as well as the quarter-zip. But my husband will be wearing his in alpine regions, not the desert or jungle. I’d almost dock a star because the women’s colors are so obnoxious that I couldn’t get an Alpenglow for myself, but in men’s, I got belay blue and burnt sienna. The belay blue is nice, and we love burnt sienna.

Awesome Everyday Sun Hoody
I have used this hoody as my daily driver for the past year, taken it around the world to climb and ski in, and it still looks great! The material is lightweight, breathable, and very stretchy making it great for rock climbing. My main use case for the hoody is for sun protect, since I hate wearing sunscreen, and this product works great for that. The biggest drawback is that I wear it so often, I look the same in all my pictures!

Great details
I have a sun hoodies like the Alpenglow from a few different manufacturers, and it's clear that BD nailed the details with this one. The collar is high enough for sun protection but loose-fitting, the cut is similarly ideal for most fast without being too baggy, and the material is a great weight for a wide range of temperatures. I expect o buy another one!
