Skyline UL Chair delivers ultralight comfort and stability for trail-weary adventurers

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"This is my favorite backpacking chair—it’s unbelievably light, sets up in seconds, and feels sturdy even on uneven ground. The pre-bent poles give it a wide, stable base, and it’s way more comfortable than sitting on a log or the ground after a long hike."

After a long day on the trail, we’re grateful for the Big Agnes Skyline UL Chair—proof that comfort doesn’t have to stay at home. Designed for backpackers and minimalist campers, this ultralight chair delivers impressive support and stability while packing down small enough to fit in the side pocket of a pack.

The tough 70D Robic nylon ripstop fabric with UTS coating stands up to years of trail use, while the shock-corded aluminum frame makes setup intuitive and fast. Pre-bent poles create a wider, more stable seat, so we can truly relax no matter where camp is pitched. Whether we’re sitting by a fire, watching the sunset, or pulling off boots after a long trek, the Skyline UL Chair provides that little luxury that makes the backcountry feel like home.

Very nice chair

Height:
6' 1"

In looking for a chair, I looked at the seat height as one of the primary selection criteria for me. This chair seemed to have the best mix of seat height, and weight. Yes I can find a chair that is lighter, however I won't be able to get up from it... Most other chairs have a seat height of around 11 to 12 inches. This chair has a seat of around 15 inches, which I like better... It is about one pound heavier that the lightest chair, but at around two pounds pack weight, I am happy... I am not the lightest backpacker, and the chair still feels sturdy. It does not feel like i's going to fall over, or break, I can shift my weight around in it, and it stays put. I am very happy with the chair.

Best Chair for Me

Height:
5' 3"
Weight:
200

I initially bought this chair back in 2017 and used it on my hiking trips. I returned it because of the weight because and wanted a lighter chair. Well, I tried other ultralight chairs, but the seat heights were too low for me. I regretted my decision and last year I bought this chair again. This is a luxury for me that I am willing to carry a bit extra weight. I wanted a chair to sit on during breaks and have a seat at the camp site. Sometimes there are too many people and no place to sit. I prefer this chair because of the seat height and easier to stand up. I am in my mid 60's and I need all the help I can get.

EXCELLENT Chair

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Height:
5' 8"
Weight:
212

I looked and looked at chairs on Youtube and read all the reviews. I looked at Helinox Chair Zeros, Skyline UL chair, Naturehike chairs, etc. I ultimately decided on the Skyline due to the increased sitting height, the rear bent legs that aid in it not tipping like the Helinox, and the build quality with the hubless, no plastic design. The entire chair is metal and goes together with "keyed" poles. Love IT!

Very nice lightweight elevated chair

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
Standard size offering

This chair is excellent for those who wish to be higher off the ground than some of the other brand offerings. It's easier to stand up from with tired legs. I did not find this chair as versatile or comfortable as some of the other brands, but it is much easier to get up from after sitting. The weight is fairly light for its sturdiness and durability. The pole lock mechanisms are a little cumbersome compared to brands that don't have them, but I've gotten use to them. Actual rating would be 4.5 for me compared to other chairs I've tried, but this chair is excellent and will work perfectly for those who want to be higher off the ground and not have to carry a heavier chair.

Incredible Chairs

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I recently purchased two of these chairs for my girlfriend and myself. They may be a bit heavier than some of their competitors, but the quality of construction, comfort and being a few inches higher off of the ground make it totally worth the bit of extra weight. I highly recommend going with these if any of the aforementioned highlights are of concern to you. Couldn’t be happier.

I've had this chair for over a year. With daily use it has held up very well. Both the frame and chair fabric are strong and durable. It packs up light and easily and I take it with me to various places often.

Ultralight Chair/weak aluminum tube

Height:
5' 2"
Weight:
167

The chair arrived today and I put it together as per instructions but after sitting in it I noticed that one of the aluminum tubes had split. I weight 167 lbs, well below the stated weight limit. Too bad - it was comfortable. I will be returning it.
