Destroyed in an hour
I have a 30-pound corgi who loves to fetch and play tug-of-war and he unraveled this rope in an hour. I'm going to try and knot the ends a little tighter otherwise this is going in the trash. But he had fun while it lasted!

My Dog Loves It!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I was given this item by Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion! Honestly, my dog should be the one to write this review since it’s her toy, but since she can’t type, I’ll have to review this for her! I have a 25lb heeler/pomeranian mix (aka a peeler) who LOVES this toy. This toy combines three of her favorite ways to play: whipping, tugging, and fetching. This is a toy that she enjoys playing with by herself to chew on and thrash around (standerbys beware, the rope hurts when it whips you!), but she also enjoys when I engage her with this toy. We’ve played a lot of tug of war using the convenient loop handles on it, but my favorite part of this toy is that it actually floats in water! My pup absolutely adores swimming, and she really enjoyed getting to play fetch with this toy in the rivers of Tennessee. The knots in this toy do take a little bit of time to dry out, so I recommend leaving this toy in a warm sunny spot after you get it wet so that the rope doesn’t get mildewy on the inside. We’ve had this toy for just over a month now, and it’s still not showing any major signs of wear and tear despite playing with it almost daily. If she had to rate this toy, I think my dog would give it 10 out of 10 paws up!

Backcountry Let-Down
I personally love Backcountry’s products for humans. So I thought this would be equal quality. My dog is not much of a chewer and this toy lasted one day. The rope splits and comes apart quickly. I’d expected more from Backcountry.

High Hopes, Huge Letdown
I received this in the mail around 4:30pm today, it's now 8:20pm. My little dude has 100% destroyed this, rope is frayed and stripped to threads. These knots are held together by standard seam thread, not a legit knot. I shop at Backcountry often for winter sports but this was disappointing.

Great for dogs who love to gnaw
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Backcountry Tug dog toy has kept my pup entertained for a few weeks now. The description says xx-large, but I disagree—this is by no means an xx-large toy for my medium sized 45lb guy. While the rope portion itself is a nice quality and has not shed into bits like cheap rope toys, the simple stitching holding the knots together at the ends easily came undone. I re-knotted the ends, but it would be nice if they stayed knotted on their own. The nubby bone at the center is a wonderful, flexible yet dense quality and is still like new after hours and hours of use—I’m impressed by the quality and would love to see the bones offered separately. It’s almost like a teething toy for dogs and mine LOVES to gnaw. The Tug is a great fetching, tugging and gnawing toy and could be improved by securing the knotted ends better.

Not for Medium to Heavy Chewers
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted to love this tug toy, and it was great for the first ten minutes, until one end of it came apart. My puppy is a medium to heavy chewer and it took her no time to unravel one end, however, the rest of it has lasted the past couple of weeks and she did not completely demolish it, so that's a win.

Good Tug Toy
Dogs love this tug toy & are enjoying playing with it. 3 stars though because they were able to slip the knot down basically creating a noose that could become dangerous if It got around something. Just supervise play with this one.

Couldn't Hold Up
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This rope felt strong when I first took it out of the package. Dogs instantly loved it, play tug with it, would chase it. Too bad they were able to tear it apart the first night, just tugging. At least the rubber handle in the middle is holding up well.
